I was resting by the dying fire as I heard the bloodshot scream. I could tell it was Christina. Her sweet little voice sounding so scares. I quickly got up grabbing my sword. Everyone else did the same.
Isaac took of first leading the rest of us.
We had gone into the woods a ways when we heard the gunshot. It echoed around us. Bouncing off the trees and rock walls.
I didn't stop for even a moment. I couldn't, I felt like my adrenaline had kicked in. After awhile of going into the woods for awhile I was tired and though I could hardly feel my legs. I pushed on. I focused on Isaac who had also not stopped running. I watched his steady pace and every once in awhile I noticed myself getting farther behind him and I would pick up speed ignoring the burning in my chest.
I took a quick glance behind me and I saw that Jacob was struggling for breathe in the back. Aubrey and Courtney weren't far behind me but their pace was slowing down. I looked ahead of me again and I noticed even Isaac was getting tired. His pace would falter but pick up speed again.
We finally came into a clearing were we found Sydney and Christina. Christina was dangling from Sydney arms.
I didn't know why she didn't lift her up. I knew Christina wasn't that heavy and Sydney could easily lift her. I took another look this time noticing that on Sydney's left arms she had a deep cut. It was almost turning white. The bullet we heard must have grazed her arm.
"Isaac." She yelled. I could tell she was in pain.
I started running over there to help and I almost didn't see the old man. He stood with a gun in hand.
"Don't move or I'll shoot the little girl." He said
I stopped immediately.
Suddenly another man. This one younger with a clean shaven face and thick brown hair stepped out from under the cover of the trees.
"William." The young man yelled
"What?" He asked aggravated
"What are you doing? I have been watching you for the past fifteen minutes. We don't care for their possessions we just want them."
"I don't work with you anymore, not after what you did."
"You may not work with me but her majesty still has the power to kill you.
"Fine"
I could tell he was frustrated his jaw was fixed and though her tried to hide it I could see a bit of his clenched fists.
"Get down here girl or I'll shoot you again only this time I won't miss."
Sydney's eyes met mine but only for a moment. I expected to see the scared little girl I knew but I saw frustration and determination in her eyes.
The other man pointed a gun at Isaac. "You will come here or I will shoot you."
"We outnumber you greatly." Isaac said
"Yes you do, but right now I am not the one whose life is being threatened. Now come here or I will shoot you."
Isaac hesitated but walked up to the man. "Good boy" He set his gun down for a moment to tie Isaac's wrote together.
I thought this could be my one chance when he wasn't holding his gun. I ran towards Isaac.
The man picked up his gun and had it loaded and pointed at Isaac's head before I could take more then a few steps. "I don't think you want to play this game." He finished tying Isaac's hands behind his back and brought the gun to me. "Your next." He tied my wrists and I groaned as he tightened my wrists.
Sydney and Christina had now made it down from the tree and the other man was finishing tying Christina's wrists. He came over to help tie us up. Once they finished they had us walk what seemed like forever. It was like a march to your death. Where you kept asking yourself. Can I escape? What will become of me? Help!
We arrived at a castle. The walls were made of stone and there was guards of too many to count. It reminded me of one of those castles you would see in a little kids drawing. With a draw bridge and towers on either side of the castle. There was a large door in the middle that we entered.
Inside it was beautiful. I felt as if I was in a museum where I'm not allowed to touch anything. Not that I could with my hands tied behind my back.
We were brought into the throne room. A gorgeous women sat on the throne. She was quite young. She looked like she was in her mid twenties. She had long black hair that went down to her waist. She wore dark makeup of colors of only purple and black. She had a silver necklace on and her black dress went down past her ankles and spread out like a wedding dress. Her nails were also painted black.
As we entered she stood up. "Leave us." She ordered the men. Her voice was cold. It had a demanding tone to it that gave me the impression that she would kill someone if they didn't listen to her without giving it a second thought.
The men left with haste. It didn't look like they wanted must communication with her.
"I've been hearing much about you." She walked down from her throne and approached us. "I know that you are looking for the map that leads to the lost sword."
"How do you know that?"
She gave me a glare that said "Never speak to me again unless I address you first."
"A little bird told me so." She smiled as she put her arm up. A small black bird flew over to her and landed on her hand. "Abu here has been watching you ever since he overheard you speaking about it at camp." She paused. "In case you haven't already figured it out I want that sword. You may know that I am in battle with the the people of Gesh. I'm not real worried about the battle but they do have more soldiers. Of course we have more magic.
As if to prove her point she snapped her fingers and in an instead not she was gone.
I looked around for her but saw nothing.
"Boo." I heard from behind me.
Christina screamed. I turned around and came only a few inches from the queens face.
She snapped her fingers again and was back were she started. "If it seems that we start to lose I will need something to pick us up again."
"You mean the sword?" Isaac asked
"Yes." She said softly. "My men have been looking for it for ages but haven't found a thing. Then Abu tells me some little kids have found part of the map and are looking for the rest of it. Now I will let you go but you are going to find the rest of the map and then follow it to the sword were you will give it to me. Then and only then will I release you."
"Then let's go." I said turning around.
The queen appeared in front of me. "Not yet. If I send you on your way there is no chance you will do what I say. I need something of yours to make sure you will me back. Or maybe someone." She paused again looking over each one of us to find with one would be the lucky victim.
"You." I couldn't tell who she was talking about.
"Me?" Christina's voice was hardly a squeak.
"I think you'll do fine as my slave until they return." She took her finger and pointed it at Christina. Then she pulled her finger back toward her. Christina slowly moved forward to words the queen. She struggled but the queen was obviously more powerful.
Sydney ran after her but the queen took her other hand and an invisible wall stopped Sydney. "No!" She screamed. She was almost crying. "No!" She screamed again and again.
Isaac took her in his arms to comfort her.
"Bring me back the sword and you will see her again. But of I do not see you back here in five days time she's mine forever."Please comment and let me know what you think of the story!!!! I love to hear your input!!!!
