I took a shower this morning as I thought about yesterday. How could you not allow me to see my own Dad. It isn't fair.
I didn't have to worry about wiping my eyes because the water washed my tears away.
" Alexis you been in that shower long enough! Get out now" my mom yelled through out the house.
I rolled my eyes and opened the shower door as I stepped out and grabbed my towel and dried off.
I wiped the fogged off the mirror and looked myself over. Today I really didn't care I looked a mess my eyes were extremely red my hair was wet and my edges were curled up into beety balls. My finger tips were wrinkled since they were in water for a long period of time.
I sniffed. As I began to brush my teeth.
I tighten the towel around my body as I heard my mom enter my room.
She knocked on the door softly before asking if she can come in.
" sure." I told her.
she slowly opened the door.
" I know your mad at me but Ry- your father isn't a good man" she said her facial expression filled with concern
" you can't stop me from seeing him what if I never get another chance to see him and he dies... Its going to be your fault and I will never forgive you for that." I told her honestly.
" Alexis I don't know where he is." She told me.
" so these past few years you never talked to him or heard about him." I questioned.
" yes I have."
" and you didn't tell me... Why?" I asked. Spitting out my toothpaste as I glanced over at her.
" your father is trying to fix some problems in his life right now. And when the time is right I promise you I'll let you see him."
" when the time is right?" I repeated.
" yes Alexis there's a lot of things going on right now between your father and me... Things you wouldn't understand."
I squinted my eyes at her. " I have no choice but to understand whether its good or bad. What if your momma didn't let you see Grandpa.. You would be hurt... Wouldn't you?" I asked her.
" but Ryan is not like grandpa."
" you trying to tell me my dad's a bad man." I questioned.
" no- well I'll let you call him maybe he can explain his self to you."
My eyebrows raised with excitement but disbelief.
" but afterschool."
I frowned but I was still happy.
" go get dressed. You already late for school so hurry up... And make sure you do that." She pointed to my tangled up curly hair.
I smiled. She exit out of my room as I walked in and pulled out my beige jeggings a white floral shirt and my white Jordan's.
I told my mom bye but part of me was still upset with her to the point where I was just going to walk out the house but I had to respect her and be thankful that she would let me talk to him.
I wondered if he had a new family did he forget about me or did he even care about me. And if he did why didn't he ask to speak to me or come see me. What if he didn't want to talk to me or see me.
