After we catched our breaths I finally asked what has been bothering me.
'Sooo, where are we going?' I asked and captain smiled.
'To the island which is know only by few' he replied and I exchanged looks with Lucy.
'What is the name of this island?' Lucy asked.
'Lyoness island, probably the most mysterious place I have ever been to' he said and we once again exchanged looks.'Umm... we are sorry for jumping into your boat like that' I apologised but captain only laughed.
'How could I leave you two with those scary looking guys' he said smiling and we returned it. We were lucky to jump into such a good man's boat. The sun was already setting when we saw island in the distance. From a far you would say that it was a whole continent because the island was huge. Half of it was with plains where people probably were cultivating their crops, other half was a mass of mountains. A few really tall mountains were reaching the sky and with blood red sun the whole island looked like from a supernatural movie.
'Whooooaaa....' we both with Lucy stared in awe. When we were nearing the shore with small wooden docks I noticed that captain was a bit stiff. But right before I was going to ask what was wrong he beat me first.
'Here we are' he said and we took our bags. When the boat stopped we jumped out and I turned to him.
'How much do we owe you, sir?' I asked and he just laughed.
'Giving me that show was enough. If you need a ride back here is my number' he said and gave me his card. I put it inside of my purse.'Ooh, can you do us one last favour?' I asked and he smiled.
'Yes, what can I do for you?' He asked and I smirked.
'Please take our dresses back and if those guys are still there, give it to them. If not, just sell them, they are really expensive' I said and captain chuckled.
'Very well' he said and we waved our goodbyes.'What's now?' Lucy asked and we turned around. From the docks was a dirt road and in the distance we could see a small village. Only now I realised in what situation we were.
Far away, with little money and few clothes in God knows what place.
'Holy cake, we really did it' I said ignoring her question and she just giggled.
'Of course we did it. Now we are free to do whatever we want' she said and I just smirked.
'We won't be able to do anything if we won't find a place to live' I said and Lucy frowned.
'You are right. We need to settle down first' she said and I pointed at the village.
'That place is a start' and we took off. After 15 minutes or so we came to the village. It was small, oriented towards the agroculture. We saw people finishing their jobs in the fields and some men comming back from the forest with dead animals. Whole village was made houses from wood and bricks. We saw a shop or more like a trader corner and Lucy exhaled.
'Holy crap it's like in medieval times. Everyone is working and living off nature. And changing stuff instead of buying' she said and I smiled.
'I already like this place' I laughed. When we turned back to the village we saw a young girl, around 17, running towards us. She made her way to us and smiled.'Are you the new folk who arrived just now?' She asked exitedly and I smiled. She looked so cute. The girl was tall and slim with very long red hair braided into one long braid. She had blue eyes full with happiness.
'Yes we are. How do you know we came just now?' I asked and she giggled.
'If something happened then the whole place knows it' she said and my eyebrows shot up. She saw it and smiled ' Our men saw you two come with Mr. Smith' she explained and I nod.'Cmon, you two can stay with me' she said and walked off us following.
'You are really friendly with strangers' Lucy commented.
'I never saw new people except when I was 4' she replied and I looked at Lucy. She motioned me with her lips "What is this place" and I just shruged. We walked through the whole village and the girl introduced us with every building.
'In here you live off from your own strenght. Farmers work their fields, hunters are hunting and gadherers are picking everything that is edible. Some work for doctors and brings them herbs' just then we came to small wooden house. It was neatly kept with a small garden. When we walked through the gates a small boy ran out.
'Mere!!' And hugged the girl's legs.
'What is it, Roy?' She asked and he pounted his cheeks.
'I'm hungry' he said and I giggled. The girl smiled at me and asked the boy to pick vegetables for the dinner.'Sorry, but my brother is living with me too' she said and motioned us to come inside. We sat by the table and I asked:
'Where are your parents?' The girl's face dropped.
'My father died long time ago and my mother..... she was taken by them' she said and looked away from us.'What do you mean by them?' Lucy asked and the girl looked at us all serious.
'You need to know one rule in order to live in this place. There is a river where mountains starts. By any mean do NOT cross it. If you do, they will take you away and God knows what will do with you' she explained and we just sat there dumb founded.'Who are they?' I asked and the girl signed.
'People who are living deep in the mountains. The river splits our territory and if you cross it... You are counted as dead in this side'
'Why?' I asked. Now this was interesting.
'Because no one came from the other side. Ever'
