Part 17

Tonight. The mating ritual is tonight.

The mating ritual takes place in the grass field. It was already decorated with food by the sides of the area. As I was told, women will gather in the middle of the ring and start dance. If a man enjoys the dance he will come to her and bite her. He will mark her in front of everyone. Then he will take the woman to the shrine and do God knows what. Ohh... Excuse me, Godess knows what. They believe in Moon Godess who watches over all werewolfs and their mates.

When I was walking around the cave, helping with final small task, all I could hear was excitement. From unmated males that is. Some women were nervous and I don't blame them. Having no voice in such important stage of woman's life really sucks.

Me with Sara were making food for the event and I noticed that she was really excited.

I became close friends with Mara and Sara and since those two were best friends we were sticking together most of the time. I talked to other members as well but most of the time I would work with those two.

Like most of females, I was avoiding men as much as possible. I could see them looking at unmarked females, me included, with their black eyes full with lust. We didn't want some horny pups on our backs with all the work we had so we stayed clear of them. Seriously this ritual is more for males than females.

'Why are you so excited?' I asked curiously while chopping the meat.

'The Women's time, that's what excites me' she said looking at me with her eyes sparkling.

'Ooookay...' I said. 'Whatever that is'

Sara signed as if she was talking to a child.
'The Women's time is a time, usually about two hours before the ritual, when all women gather around the lake, where you fell, and dance while men can't see us. It's like a goodbye for your carefree life for those who will be marked' she explained and put vegetables into the pot next to my meat.

'But you don't know which ones will be marked' I said confused.

'Yes, that's why all of us are going there. You included' she winked and left me to finish the meal.

'Rooose!' Suddenly I heard Mark saying my name and coming towards me.

'Nooooo!' I replied not turning my head.

'I was going to tell you that Mara is searching for you' he said and I turned to him. He was wearing his ritual clothes which were clean not used pelt.

'Oh my, Mark, you changed your clothes' I said with fake surprise. He grinned.

'I know right' he said and we laughed. We got along really well. Since he was the one who saved me I got to spend a lot of time with him. He was a nice dude. No, I don't want to be marked by him... Unless it would save me from hormonal pups.

I finished the meal and walked off to find Mara. I found her in the infirmary with what looked like african drums. She had a grin on her face.

'Let's gooooo!' She said and ran out grabbing my hand in the process.

All men were watching us leave. Even the Alpha. But we all ingnored them and proceeded. After ten minutes or so we all came to the same lake I fell and sat in a ring next to the water. Around 30 women were and 10 had those african like drums.

Women started to play the drums and one of the women went into the ring and started to dance. She danced like she was most comfortable with drums giving the right rhythm. It was so beautiful and drums were giving feel as if I was in a trance.

The woman danced to me and gave me her hand. I took it and we exchanged places.

'Show us what you got, Rose' the woman named Kate said and we laughed.

'I don't really know how to dance but I'll try' I said and closed my eyes.

*tap* *tap* *bump*

I started to move my hips and rose my arms.

*tap* *bump* *bump* *tap*

My legs started to move on their own.

*tap* *tap* *tap*

I felt my body do complicated moves that I learned from my dance classes long time ago.

I finished my dance and walked towards Sara.

'I don't know how to dance my ass, you got us blown away' she said and I just laughed. We exchanged places and she started to dance.

And so two hours passed and we heard a deep sound.

'Pack up girls, ritual is about to start' Mara said and we all got up. When we were quite the ways away I noticed that we were short on one drum.

'We left one drum, I'll go find it' I said and they nod. I went back to find it placed under the tree. Taking it I started to walk back when I felt a hand on my mouth. Another one snaked around my waist. I felt a panic wash over my body and I started to struggle. But the person was really strong since he didn't even budge.

Suddenly I felt my head go to my left and pain go through the neck. I let out a scream but it was muffled by the hand. My body went limp and my vision darkened.
