"Good morning, Caitlyn," I sat down next to Emily in form room and was surprised at her saying good morning. It'd been a couple of weeks now since I first went out with Cameron and that group, and it had caused me to be more distant from Emily. I offered for her to come sit with us countless times, but all times she denied and told me to go on without her. I couldn't help but feel bad, but I wasn't feeling like giving up a group of friends for a nice girl who hardly spoke to me.

"Good morning," I smiled back and then looked at the book in her hand. "Good book?"

"Yes, best one for a couple of weeks now," she replied rather quietly.

"What's it about?" I asked, wanting to make conversation with her. I felt sorry for her, and although I'm sure she doesn't want to be a fifteen year old girl that people sympathise, I couldn't help it.

"Oh well, within it this girl commits suicide and leaves behind these cassette tapes in which she sends to a group of people who each had something to do with her death and it's narrated from the point of view of one of the last boys to receive the package. It's really really good." I smiled at the clear excitement she got from talking about her books.

Before I could continue talking, the teacher walked in and took the register. At the end of form I waved goodbye to Emily and proceeded to Biology. I walked into the classroom to see everyone in different seats to their allocated ones.

"Ah, Caitlyn," my teacher approached me. "Today we're experimenting with soil and everyone has been assigned a new lab partner. You will sit next to...Josh, over there."

I internally groaned and rolled my eyes as I turned towards the desks and made my way over to my seat. I placed my bag down on the floor and took my seat, not bothering to greet Josh. He was annoying - I'd come to know that over the past few weeks. He still made fun of my accent for absolutely anything, and kept calling me a heartbreaker - firstly because I decided to ignored him and his friends after about two days of them taking the piss, and secondly, because I have the same surname as Taylor Swift: international superstar heartbreaker.

"What's up, USA?" Josh asked, turning on his stool to face me.

"Nothing," I deadpanned in reply.

"You ready to do this experiment?" He asked, unaware of the bored tone I delivered to him. "I'm totally keen for getting dirty...if you know what I mean." He winked at me.

I scoffed and rolled my eyes, turning back to face the front of the room. The teacher went over the method we would be using, and allocated a range of different experiments for each pair to do. When he landed on Josh and I, we were given the experiment of testing moisture content between exposed and unexposed soil.

"I like how moist this soil is..." Josh began, pinching some of the soil and letting it drop back into the beaker. Why are so many boys so gross?

"Just get on with the experiment," I signed.

"Yes sir," Josh saluted, making me involuntarily laugh, but I quickly covered it up.

Josh smirked at me, but turned back to the experiment and we spent the next thirty minutes weighing different sections of it and preparing it to be placed in the oven over night. Soon enough the bell for next lesson signaled, and I quickly packed up my stuff.

"Ah, what great lab buddies we make," Josh commented, following me towards the classroom door. As we reached it he slung his arm over my shoulders as we walked out into the hallway. I attempted to shove him off me, but he was too strong and just brought me closer into a crushing hug.

"Josh, get the fuck off!" I breathed, wriggling out from under his grip.

"Awh, USA, I thought we shared something special in that lab," he said almost mockingly, causing a few of his surrounding friends to burst out laughing.
