I was not expecting this to happen on a simple Saturday afternoon.

There I was, sitting on the couch and minding my own business. I'd picked up the remote control and began flicking through the channels. Mom was scheduled to return within that next hour, so I guess I was just sitting around and waiting for her. Upon settling on some 80s teen film, I sat back and carried on watching the screen.

At the sound of the front door open I got up from where I sat and went towards the front of the house. However, mom beat me to it and was already walking into the living room, her arms held wide open. I ran up to her and hugged her. "Mom, hey!" I smiled into the hug.

"Hiya, sweetie, how's it been?" She asked as she pulled away from the hug, holding me at arms length and staring at me.

"It's been chill," I replied nonchalantly. But I began noticing the sheepish expression creep onto my mom's features. "How was Florida? Did you catch up with anyone?"

"Oh yeah," she replied, a little quieter. "I, uh - where's Austin?"

"Oh, just upstairs in his room, hey, I'll go get him!" I began to walk towards the stairs before my mom put her arm out and practically dragged me back towards her.

"No! I, uh, I have...something for you, that I don't want you to see yet, I'll call for him."

I shrugged as I watched my mom cautiously make her way out of the lounge. I heard her call for my brother who seconds later came bounding down the stairs. Austin joined me in the lounge, where I had retreated to sitting on the sofa again. Mom continued to stand up and I gave her a quizzical look.

"So, guys," mom began, and her nervous demeanour was what caught my attention. "I, uh, have something I need to show you...tell you..."

By now I began feeling a little worried, and I could tell Austin felt the same from the sideways glance he gave me as Mom continued talking.

"So," mom continued. "this may come as a shock, and I'm sorry for any confusion or hurt you guys may feel from this - but there was always a good reason - and well, really, there was no putting it off any longer...it's about time you guys were given the truth so...uh, Tay?"

Mom turned to look at the doorway and my gaze followed hers. Seconds later someone walked through the door.

But not just anyone...it was a someone, alright.

"Fuck off," I whispered to myself. which luckily no one else heard. Taylor Swift approached mom and hung her arm around her shoulder, mom placing an arm around her waist. Taylor wore a red polka dot dress with her hair straightened and sitting on her shoulders, and had a nervous smile on her face as she stared at Austin and I - us two staring back bug eyed at the sight in front of us. It made no sense.
