Sunset knew that what had once happened to her was now happening to Twilight. She knew that if she could get Twilight to see the magic of friendship, that could turn her back to normal.
"This isn't the way!" Sunset called out to Midnight. "I know you feel powerful right now, like you can have everything you want. I've been where you are. I've made the same mistake you're making. I put on a crown and just like you, I was overwhelmed by the magic it contained. I thought it could get me everything I wanted."
"Oh, you're wrong," Midnight replied. "Unlike you, I can have everything I want!"
"No you can't! Even with all that magic and power, you'll still be alone. True magic comes from honesty, loyalty, laughter, generosity, kindness." As Sunset said this, she opened up Twilight's device and began to place each of the elements inside of it. Sunset was lifted off the ground and she continued speaking.

"I understand you, Twilight, and I want to show you the most important magic of all!" Sunset closed the device and then smashed it on the ground, breaking it and releasing all the magic onto Sunset, which transformed her into Daydream Shimmer, a powerful angel-like creature.
Daydream had yellow-and-red striped hair that pointed upwards, a yellow glowing unicorn horn, and sparkly golden wings. She wore a pale reddish-pink dress, golden boots, over-the-elbow-bracelets with a red-and-yellow sun on each, and a choker necklace.

"The magic of friendship!" Daydream finished.
Midnight backed away slightly in fear while the Rainbooms smiled at Sunset's transformation.
Daydream sealed all of Midnight's rifts shut, which infuriated Midnight. She released a ball of energy from her hand and flew towards Daydream, prepared to fire it at her. Daydream flew towards Midnight as well, and the two collided, causing a flash of white light to appear.
Midnight shot another beam of energy at Daydream, and Daydream did the same to Midnight. The two attacks hit each other.
Daydream came close to overcoming Midnight, but then Midnight used more of her power and gained the upper hand. She laughed maliciously as Daydream struggled to overpower Midnight.

The students all gasped in concern and Spike called out to Twilight. Midnight heard Spike's cry and looked down for a brief moment and spotted Spike with big puppy-dog eyes. This snapped Midnight out of her madness for a brief moment, distracting her and allowing Daydream to overpower her.

"Noooooo!" Midnight shouted as she and Daydream ended up in a white void. Midnight opened her eyes and spotted Daydream right across from her.
"Take my hand, Twilight," Daydream said, extending out her hand. "Let me show you there's another way. Just like someone once did for me."

Midnight hesitated for a second, but ultimately, she tearfully accepted Daydream's offer and grabbed her hand. This changed both Daydream and Midnight back to Sunset and Twilight.
"I'm so sorry," Twilight said with tears in her eyes. "I didn't mean for any of this to happen."

"I know," Sunset replied. "And going by my own experiences, they'll forgive you."
Sunset put her hands over Twilight's, and Twilight smiled in return. Spike then jumped onto Twilight, carrying her glasses in his mouth. Twilight giggled as she put them back on her face.
Principal Cinch emerged from the bleachers she had been hiding behind and walked over to Principal Celestia angrily.
