Chapter 6:
"So you are going out with this boy, Jake, who is Warren's friend?" my uncle asked.
I nodded. "Yes, I am."
"Is it going to be a group date with Warren coming?"
I shook my head. "No, it's just going to be me and Jake."
My uncle sighed. "I don't know about this, Lacey. He's eighteen and you have just met him today. Is it really a good idea to go out with him? How does Warren feel about this?"
I internally rolled my eyes. Why does everything have to involve Warren?! "Uh, well, Warren doesn't really like it..." I said, trailing off.
My uncle's eyes widened. "How come?"
"He just said Jake's a bad guy and all but I think he is exaggerrating. Jake is actually a really nice guy."
"But why would Warren lie about something like that unless he is telling the truth?"
I sighed. "I don't know. Just trust me, Jake is a good guy. If there are any problems, I'll be sure to call Warren, okay?" I lied.
My uncle nodded. "Okay, just make sure that you know what Jake's intentions are. He could easily take advantage of you."
Suddenly, a knock came at the door. "It's the Kings'," my uncle said, going to answer it.
I went downstairs with them and came face to face with Warren and his family. "Hey Lacey!" Mr. and Mrs. King said, smiling.
I smiled. "Hey."
Warren continued to stare at me, disappointment was evident on his face. "What?" I whispered, tired of the staring.
"We need to talk," he whispered, so his parents wouldn't hear.
I rolled my eyes but nodded. "Fine."
I led him up to my room, where he sat down on my bed and I sat down in my computer chair. "What?" I asked, a bit too harsh.
"I want you to call me if anything goes wrong with Jake, okay? Anything at all. He is not a good guy."
I scoffed. "Why should I call you for any trouble after that lie you told about me? Do you know how slutty that made me sound?" I asked, angrily.
Warren sighed. "Hear me out, okay? I only said I had sex with you because apparently, Jake saw us waking up on the beach when he went out for his jog. I couldn't say I simply slept with you so I told him I did it with you."
I sighed sharply. "Why would you tell him that?! Why would you lie?!"
"Because I've never just slept with a girl before. Usually, I do them and then dump them. If I said I just slept beside you, they would think you were my girlfriend and I do not want a girlfriend at all," Warren said, rolling his eyes.
I crossed my arms. "You know, that's not really helping yourself."
"I know... Just do what I said, okay? Just please call me if anything goes wrong. I wasn't exaggerrating when I said Jake is a bad guy."
Suddenly, a knock came at the door. Warren gave me a pleading look. "Be careful," he said.
I sighed, walking downstairs to get the door. Jake smiled. "Hey, are you ready?"
I nodded. "Yup."
Just then, Warren came downstairs, his face full of anger. Jake glared at him. "Warren," he said, simply, his tone full of hatred.
Warren nodded. "Bring her home safe."
Jake chuckled and put an arm around me. "Oh, I will," he said, leading me out of the house.
