Chapter 14 (Angel Boy)
“Sexy, you up yet?”
“Mmm,” I mumbled, ignoring the voice. All I wanted to do was go back to sleep.
“Lacey?” the voice asked, shaking my shoulder gently.
“Mmm!” I moaned angrily, pushing my shoulder back as a way to get him to stop touching me.
“Lacey, just wake up,” the voice said, now stern.
I groaned grumpily, turning over to look at Warren, who was propped up on his elbow, watching me with an amused smile. “Morning, sleepy head,” he said, cheerily.
“Why the hell did you wake me? It’s too early,” I whined, rubbing my eyes.
Warren chuckled, making me give him a double take. His laugh sounded really sexy in the morning, as well as his voice. It had a hint of sleepiness. “Too early? It’s ten in the morning. I’m guessing you aren’t really a morning bird.”
I rolled my eyes. “Well, someone woke me up last night and wanted to sleep with me,” I said grumpily.
Warren smirked. “How was your sleep?” he asked, ignoring me.
I yawned, shrugging. “Fine, I guess. Yours?”
Warren shook his head. “Couldn’t sleep at all.”
“So what did you do to keep yourself entertained until you fell asleep?”
Warren shrugged, collapsing onto the bed. “I watched you sleep.”
I gasped, taking my pillow and hitting him with it. “Creeper!”
Warren smiled. “I guess I am, sleeping beauty.”
Suddenly, my phone rang. “Hello?” I answered.
“Lacey! You still want to go on that date, right?” Mikayla asked.
Oh no. “Um, yeah, sure,” I said, praying that any of her questions didn’t involve me having to talk about the date in detail.
“So, what are you going to wear? I was thinking that since you are going to go to that fancy restaurant, I’m guessing you’d need to wear something a bit nice. What do you have that’s kind of semi-formal?”
I sighed. “I have a summer dress. Is that good?”
“It’s perfect! So, how does Warren feel about you and Hayden going out?” Mikayla asked, lowering her voice.
I looked over at Warren, who was watching me with intense eyes. “Um, he’s good,” I said quickly.
Mikayla laughed. “Is he jealous? I think he likes you.”
I bit my lip. “I don’t think so. Listen, I’ll call you later. Bye!” I said, hanging up before she can answer me.
Warren laughed. “Why the monotonous voice?”
I shook my head. “Nothing.”
Warren scoffed. “It was Mikayla calling about the date, huh?”
I frowned, nodding. “Uh huh.”
Warren gave me a sad smile. “Yeah, I knew it. That girl doesn’t know how to talk quietly. I could basically hear everything she said.”
“I’m sorry,” I said quietly.
Warren put an arm around me. “Don’t be sorry. I’m happy for you. You deserve someone that would commit to you and maybe, Hayden really is a good guy.”
