I woke up to the smell of cooking. Not just ordinary cooking either; Christmas cooking.
I stretched myself out on my bed, grinning. I love Christmas.
I got dressed and ready, bounding down the stairs. "Merry Christmas, everybody!" I chirped, as Uncle Sam and Aunt Elise came into view.
The two were hard at work, cooking and talking amongst themselves. "Merry Christmas! How was your sleep?" Uncle Sam asked, giving me a smile.
"Great. I woke up to the smell of fantastic cooking. Is that for tonight?" I asked.
Aunt Elise nodded, grinning. "Yes! We are having a big Christmas party. Our relatives are coming over and the King's will be coming over too with their family. This house will be packed."
I grinned. "Warren will be here?"
Aunt Elise winked at me. "Of course! It will be so romantic to spend Christmas with your first official boyfriend!"
"Yeah, just make sure he doesn't give you any 'special' Christmas gifts, alright?" Uncle Sam said, a grimace on his face.
Ever since Warren and I started dating, Uncle Sam has been more of a "father" role than the "uncle" role. I chuckled. "Alright! Do you need any help with the cooking?" I asked.
Aunt Elise shook her head. "Nope! I think we are fine! You can just hang around if you want."
I nodded and went to the living room. I sat down in front of our Christmas tree. The theme this year was blue, silver, and white. Underneath, were what looked like about a hundred presents.
I picked up a red wrapped present and looked at the name tag. I hoped Warren likes his gift.
Suddenly, I felt my phone ring from inside my pocket. "Hello?"
"Hi girly! Merry Christmas!" the voice, or voices, said from the other side.
"Hey guys! Merry Christmas!" I said, smiling.
Mikayla and Jennifer just came home from college for the holidays. I had yet to see them both.
"Sorry, we can't really visit today! Maybe tomorrow or in a couple days?" Mikayla said.
"Sure! So, what's new?" I asked.
Jennifer chuckled as the phone was passed onto her. "Nothing much. Still single but I'm always ready to mingle."
I shook my head in amusement as I heard Mikayla's voice in the background. "Jen, stop with the cheesy lines!"
The phone was passed back to Mikayla as she chuckled. "So, how's you and Warren?"
I grinned. "We are good. He's spending Christmas with us tonight and his family. We are having this like one big Christmas party."
"I'm crossing my fingers that he's going to propose to you tonight as your present," Mikayla said seriously, although a smile was evident in her voice.
"Shut up! We've only been dating for a couple months! I'm too young to get married. Plus, I told him nothing flashy for a present," I chuckled.
"You don't need a ring to propose!" Mikayla said.
"Shut up about that already. He's not going to propose. But anyways, so how is Hayden? I haven't spoken to him in forever!" I frowned.
"Hayden's great! He has a girlfriend now. He's in school. He told me to wish you and Warren a Merry Christmas! He also said he's sorry that he hasn't really kept in touch. He said if you ever want to hang out, you should call him!" Mikayla said.
