Chapter 19 (Angel Boy)
The next morning, I packed my stuff up to leave the hospital. I didn’t really get a good sleep but with Warren being there, it made it more enjoyable.
“So, have fun on your date. Tell me how it goes after, okay?” Warren said, his fake smile once again plastered on his face.
I smiled. “Okay, are you sure you don’t want me to stay?” I asked.
Warren shook his head. “I’m fine, really. Just go on your date. I’m okay,” he said, smiling.
I smiled, giving him a big hug. I didn’t want to leave him. I just wanted to stay here and keep him company. “Thanks, Warren. I’ll be back here tonight if you want.”
Warren’s eyes widened, shaking his head. “No! Uh, no, it’s okay… I’m fine. Just stay home. You can visit me tomorrow if you like.”
I laughed. “Why the sudden panic?”
Warren shrugged. “I… Just stay home after your date. I’ll be fine.”
I sighed, laughing. “Okay, bye!”

I sighed, looking at myself in the mirror. I just wanted to go back to the hospital and talk to Warren. I liked Hayden but I felt bad for going on a date when he was at the hospital being treated for a stab wound.
I wore plain, dark blue skinny jeans and a navy blue cardigan with a white tank top underneath. It was 6:30. Hayden was coming to pick me up at 7.
Suddenly, I heard a car pull up. Hayden was here. I looked out the window but did not see Hayden’s car. It was the King’s family car. I watched as Lisa helped Warren out of the car.
I ran downstairs. “Warren’s home?!” I almost yelled.
My uncle looked at me shocked. “Really?” he asked, opening the front door.
I ran out towards Warren, who gave me a smile. “Hey Lacey,” he said happily.
“I didn’t know you were coming home today!” I said, frowning.
Warren laughed. “Well, here I am.”
“I could have cancelled my plans and stayed home with you!” I said, disappointed.
Warren shook his head. “No, go on your date,” he said sternly.
“But I really wanted to stay home with you!”
“But Hayden wants to go on his date with you.”
I sighed. Warren laughed, putting his hands on my shoulders and shaking gently. “Lacey, you can come see me after. I’ll still be here.”
Just then, Hayden pulled up into the driveway. He smiled at us as he walked over. “Hey Lacey. Warren, nice to see you better. Heard about the incident,” he said, frowning.
Warren smiled politely. “Thank you, Hayden. Well, if you excuse me, I’m going to go up to my room now. Have fun on your date,” he said, nodding at me before walking away.
I watched Warren walk away. I saw Hayden smile at me from the corner of my eye. “Ready?” he asked.
I stared as Warren disappeared into the house. I nodded, turning to Hayden. “I’m ready. Let’s go.”
I reluctantly got into the car with Hayden and pulled away from the house.
