Chapter 17 (Angel Boy)
I spent days and days later, by Warren’s bedside, reading him good news from all over the world. I wanted Warren to know, even if he wasn’t awake, that we were doing okay.
It was pretty boring without Warren, even a bit depressing. I spent every second wondering if he was okay.

“Lacey! Are you awake?” my uncle called from behind my bedroom door.
I sat up in bed. “Come in,” I said, rubbing my eyes.
My uncle stepped in, a big smile on his face. “Lacey, Warren is awake now. We went to the hospital last night but you were asleep and we didn’t want to wake you.”
I gasped. “Seriously?”
“Yup.”
I dashed out of bed, running to the washroom. I quickly brushed my teeth, wearing a simple jean skirt and tank top.

I got up to Warren’s hospital room, where he greeted me with a big grin. “Lacey!” he said excitedly.
I grinned, running over to him. I gave him a big hug, careful not to hurt him. “Oh my god, how are you feeling?” I asked.
Warren shrugged. “Good, I guess. How long was I out again?”
“About a week and a half.”
Warren grimaced. “Ugh, I missed that much?”
I laughed. “Well, I visited you everyday and fed you news.”
Warren smiled. “You visited me everyday?”
I frowned. “Did you not want me to?”
Warren shook his head. “Nope, I do. I’m just touched. Where’s Jake?” he asked, looking mad now.
I shivered at the memory. “Jail, apparently. He’s not getting out for a long time.”
Warren rolled his eyes. “He deserves it, that psychotic son of a bitch.”
I laughed. “Don’t get yourself worked up. He’s gone. You might burst your stitches.”
Warren gave me a small smile. “How are you feeling?”
I shrugged. “Fine. I’m a bit shaken up but I’m doing okay.”
Warren smiled. “Did you miss me?” he asked, an innocent tone to his voice.
I raised a brow. “Honestly? I did.”
Warren smiled, patting his hand on top of mine. “Well, I missed you too.”
I frowned. “You really scared me. I thought you were going to die,” I said, shaking my head.
Warren chuckled. “Well, I’m alive but I’m glad to see you are concerned.”
I glared at him. “It’s not funny. I seriously thought I lost you.”
Warren’s eyes lit up. “Lost me?”
I nodded. “Yeah, I thought I would never talk to you again. I thought you were gone. I thought Jake killed you.”
Warren laughed. “Lacey, you would never lose me. Sure, if I died and all but I would always be yours,” he said, smiling at me.
