Chapter 11:

"So, where are we going?" I asked, confused.

We were all packed into Mikayla's white convertible. Mikayla was driving, I was in the passenger's seat, and Jennifer was in the backseat, although she kept leaning forward to talk to us. Mikayla looked at me in the corner of her eye, smiling as she drove. "Well, we were going to go shopping but someone's daddy has taken away all of someone's privileges," she said, giving Jennifer a glare in the mirror.

Jennifer laughed. "Hey, you invited me to that party! I had to get out of the house someway other than the front door!"

Mikayla rolled her eyes, before turning to me. "We heard about you and Jake. We are so sorry. He's such a jerk. So, we decided that we should just rent some movies and go to my house! My parents aren't home but I think my brother is. Don't worry, though, he's not really that outgoing so you won't even think he's there," she said, laughing.

I nodded. "I see... Is it always just you two? Are there any other girls you hang out with?" I asked curiously.

Jennifer nodded. "Yep but most of them only hang out with us for our money and stuff. Our parents are probably the most rich next to Warren and I think you. Warren did say his neighbours are big bucks," she said, winking.

I thought a bit. I actually had no idea what my aunt and uncle did for a living but judging by the huge house and the expensive stuff they buy, I am guessing we were rich. I nodded. "I think it's us. So you just hang out together?" I asked.

Mikayla nodded. "Just us. We can't really tell who's fake or not so it's just always us. Plus I know I can count on her. We've been friends since Nursery. Her older brother is also married to my older sister so we are kind of related in a way."

My eye's widened. "Really? That's cool. How old are your siblings?" I asked.

"My older brother, Hayden, is 19 and my older sister, Brooke, is 24," Mikayla said.

I nodded. "Cool."

Mikayla gave me a sad smile. "My brother is adopted, though. I don't know why but our family friend had him and didn't want him so my parents adopted him and she fled the country. It's all very complicated."

I frowned. "Aww, that's so sad. What about you, Jennifer? How old is your brother?"

"Josh is 26. They married straight out of school," she said, smiling.

I smiled. "Lucky. I wish I had siblings."

Mikayla rolled her eyes. "No, you don't. Every only child says that but once you get them, you'd hate them. I have always competed with Brooke. She was everything I wanted to be. Once I was in High School, I tried to mold myself into the girl she was. Soon, everyone called me Little Brooke," she said, laughing.

I laughed. Maybe these girls wouldn't be so bad afterall? Despite all the peppiness, they seemed like good people.

After renting the movies Swimfan and Just Friends, we drove to Mikayla's house.

When we got in front of her house, my jaw dropped. Her house was huge! She was mega rich. "Oh my god, this is an amazing house," I said in awe.
