(Two days later) Third Hokage's POV

"Do you know who did this to her?" I asked the ANBU. I stood behind a window, looking at Miu as she slept. An IV needle was in her arm as an oxygen mask was over her mouth and nose. "We don't know." the ANBU answered.

"Lord Hokage," I turned around. "What is it?" I asked the other ANBU. "A woman claimed she saw Miu run back inside the house." he informed. "Why? Was she trying to kill herself?" I asked. "I don't think that's it. We found this when we found her outside her house." he explained.

He held out a white, stuffed rabbit. It was the present I gave her on her birthday. "I'd like to talk to her alone when she wakes up." I said, turning back to the window. I stared at Miu as she rested. "Yes, sir." the two ANBU responded.

(Time skip)

Miu's POV

I squinted my eyes open as I adjusted to the bright light. Where am I? I felt an oxygen mask around my mouth and nose. I sat up then took the mask off. "Hello?" I called softly. I jumped slightly as the door opened, revealing Lord Hokage.

"Lord Hokage," I whispered. "How are you feeling, Miu?" he asked me. "Not so well." I said before coughing a little. "Miu, an ANBU told me you ran back inside your house as it was on fire. Is that true?" Lord Hokage asked. I nodded my head slightly. "Yes." I answered.

"They also told me you went back inside for this." He held up my stuffed rabbit. "Why did you go back for this?" he asked me. "Because you gave it to me, sir. It means a lot to me because it came from you. The fact that you used your money to get it for me meant a lot to me. When I hold the rabbit, it reminds me of you. It feels like you're there with me whenever I'm alone." I explained in a shy voice.

"That's very kind of you to say, Miu. But I could have just gotten you another rabbit." Lord Hokage said. "No! You can't do that!" I said quickly. He raised a brow at me. "Why?" he asked. "Because... Because then you would have just wasted another gift on me." I said sadly.

"Nonsense, Miu." Lord Hokage said as he gently petted my head. I flinched slightly and blushed a little. My blush faded as I thought about the fire. "It's gone. Everything I had, everything I owned. It's all gone. I have nothing left." I said.

I pressed my hands to my face and cried softly. "Miu, don't cry." Lord Hokage said gently. "I have to, sir. Everything I had is gone. I have no place to stay." I said, wiping my eyes. I stared down at the hospital sheets.

"Miu, can you remember who did this to you?" Lord Hokage asked. "No, I don't remember.... Wait, I remember something. Some kids in my class, back at the academy, ran out from behind my house." I said.

"Do you remember what they look liked?"

"No, but I noticed they were the same kids who bullied me a lot."

"Do you know why they would do this to you?"

"No. All I know is that they like picking on me. It's the only way they can entertain themselves."

I pulled my knees to my chest then gasped. "My journal! Where's my journal!" I said in a panic. "It's all right, Miu. I have it right here." Lord Hokage said as he held up my journal. I quickly grabbed it and held it close to me.

The journal meant a lot to me. If I were to lose it, I'd be a wreck forever. "Miu," Lord Hokage said. I looked at him. "I want you to stay here for a few more days until you're fully healed." he said. I nodded slightly. "I understand." I said.

He petted my head. "For now, get some sleep." he said. I nodded again then rested my head on the pillow. My journal was held close to my chest as I fell into a light sleep.
