Chapter 26

Ah yes. Today was the day that I've been dreading. It was my 16th birthday. I really hated my birthday. It drew too much attention to me. I didn't like gifts either. I don't want people spending their money on me. I woke up extra early so I didn't have to wake up to birthday calls. I didn't shower because we needed to save water. I threw my hair up and put on sweatpants and a red shirt from Pony. Too early to get dolled up. I walked down the hall to get the boys' laundry when I walked past the "forbidden room" I wasn't allowed in it, but everyone else sure was. Darry and Sodapop have been spending an awful amount of time in there and I was getting worried. I shrugged and gathered the laundry and put it in a basket then leaving the basket by the laundry room door. I loved it here. I did all the cleaning and cooking;I didn't mind. I give relationship and girl advice to the gang. My favorite part is I get to be around people I love. I just dread the day that everything is gonna be taken away from me. I began to cook eggs, cracking one and put it on the sizzling pan. Just then strong arms lifted me up and swung me around, causing me to throw eggs everywhere.

"Aw c'mon!" I whined looking down at the splattered egg mess.

"Happy birthday y/n!" Soda exclaimed smiling.

"Big deal." I sighed, cleaning up the egg with a paper towel.

"Aren't you happy? Its your big day." Pony frowned and cracked another egg on the pan.

"I've never been a fan of my birthday. I rather just age and be over with it." I shrugged then kissed Pony on the back of his head then began setting the table

"But celebrating is the fun part" Soda sat at the dining table and cut himself a fat slice of chocolate cake.

"Maybe for you, but definitely not for me." I chuckled and Pony placed everyone's eggs on their plates.

"Were going places together today. Just me and you." Ponyboy snaked his arms around my waist and pulled me closer. I wrapped my arms around his neck.

"Ooohhh. I likie." I giggled and kissed him gently.

"But we don't have much time. So go get ready." He kissed me once before I ran off. I straightened my hair and put on a mint short sleeve with black high waisted shorts. I wore my white dirty converse and met Pony outside. We did all sorts of things. Bowling, went to a pet store, made out in the lot. Pony got me a new leather jacket. We went home around 4:00 P.M. and did cake and presents. I got tons of cool stuff. At around 5, Pony dragged me to the Park. We laid down a blanket and we sat on it. He wanted to see the sunset.

"This is beautiful Ponyboy." I said in awe. He pulled my closer and I rested my head on his shoulder while he wrapped an arm around my waist. "This is the best birthday I've ever had."

"I'm happy I got beat up that day. I love you so much." He kissed my forehead.

"I love you too, Ponybabe. My sweet little cookie. I just wish we met more.... Tamely. " the sun finished setting, and it was getting dark quickly.

"Let's go. I have somewhere else to take you." We ran home and Pony told me to get dressed and we were going to the drive ins. Two-Bit was coming with us. I changed into some navy blue jeans and put on a red shirt. I put on my new leather jacket.

We arrived at the movies and sat in the 2nd row. I wish we sat somewhere else. Pony didn't notice it yet but sitting in front of us was two girls. Cherry and Marcia...
