(For all you unvocabulistic fools malleable means bendable, and this is the actual first chapter, which is 2 years later)

Some people have things they do when they're bored. Like little nervous ticks that they have developed. Some people hum to theirselves, others observe their surroundings. But we'll get to that in a minute.

Meet Bartholomew Henry Allen II, or "Bart" for short. Named after his grandfather, Bart happens to have his grandfather's powers to harness the speed force.

Back to the nervous ticks thing, Bart happened to have a tapping tick. Perfect because he tapped about 20 times a second, and he couldn't help it. And if you happened to know him, the real him, (I mean impulse) then you'll notice it. And it is quite annoying.

Bart was sitting in star labs, waiting to hear news about the particle accelerator. Then Ronnie walked into the room. "Good news Impulse, professor stein was able to recreate the battery that powers the particle accelerator the right way. I don't think there was any way we could have without your technological expertise from your time. Get suited up, and we'll walk you through it." Bart got up up and pushed his grandfather's ring around the sides. It popped open and released his suit, and he sped into it. Now normal people would probably just see a spinning mini tornado, but inside was phasing and changing clothes at an extremely fast speed. Bart, or now Impulse grabbed his goggles off of the chair next to him. He ran over to the observation room and picked up his snack. And by snack I mean an assortment of various foods piled onto multiple plates. Some of the speedsters happen to have faster than normal metabolisms. Impulse had an ultra fast one, which also made him age at an alarming rate. Wally and Barry were able to slow it down, but even though Bart looked 19, he was in fact only 8 years old. As Impulse chowed down own his, "snack" professor stein explained to him how to travel through time using the speed force, which he had learned from a crash course lesson from Eobard Thawne disguised as Harrison Wells. Impulse made his way into the accelerator chamber, he put down his plate, and started running. Almost immediately he broke the sound barrier. In his earpiece he heard stein's voice. Telling him to think back to where he wanted to go. To concentrate on the exact time he wanted to return to. And impulse thought back, back to before he arrived. To the day that Barry had described with more details that you could get from a picture book. The day his son, Impulse's father, was born. And Impulse ran faster and faster and faster. Then they inserted the atom particle, and Impulse still went faster, and faster, and faster, until finally, he wasn't there anymore. He was in a hospital room. He heard loud crying noises in the next room. He went to the hall and looked into the next room. In there he saw two very familiar faces. His grandparents. Impulse waited for Barry to be alone and he went up to him. "Excuse me sir? Can I talk to you for a moment?" Barry turned to see Impulse, now dressed normally, and looking up at him. "You look familiar kid, do I know you?" Bart did happen to look almost identical to a young Henry Allen. Barry's father. "You do know me, or you will in a few years. My name is Bart Allen." Barry looked shocked, and speechless for a moment. But not for too long. "Come on kid lets find your parents." "I know exactly where my dad is, and he won't really recognize me right now." "Why is that?" Bart pointed to the window showing all the newborn infants who were resting. "Because your wife just gave birth to him and my aunt."
