"Impulse! Get behind him, he can't take us if we all attack at the same time." And so Impulse followed the Flashes instructions. Eobard Thawn looked in circles trying to plan his attack. Flash was right. There was no way for him to stop the four of them at once. Jay Garrick stood to his right, and Kid Flash in his left. And Barry Allen faced him head on. "Now!" And all at once, they converged on zoom. And Zoom went to Barry and tackled Barry, and in his deep flash voice he yelled, "IT IS YOUR DESTINY TO LOSE TO ME FLASH!" Then the other three speedsters took him down. But Barry, Jay, and Wally all lost their lives in the attack. And Impulse was left on his own. To live on his own, without his grandfather. And his grandma Iris was across the sea doing help for the less fortunate. And she wouldn't be back for years. So he wouldn't have anyone to take care of him. Even his parents were only infants. He had no way to return home, he didn't know how to travel through time using the speed force, and the time machine he came in only had a one way trip. He found Barry who still had a few breaths left, and Barry told his grandson some of the most important things he would ever hear. "Bart, find firestorm and tell him you need to travel back to day X. They'll know what it means." And then Barry Allen passed away.
