Mistakes [Second Book]

Daniel's POV

I patiently sit in the waiting area, still recovering from my crazy dream. I screw my eyes shut, opening them just in time to see a doctor walking into the waiting area. He seems to be looking for someone as he looks back down at his clipboard.

"Is anyone here in relation to Mr. Joseph Graceffa?" he asks loudly, and I immediately stand up, nervously walking over to him. He eyes me, nodding his head.

"How is he?" I ask immediately and he looks down at his clipboard again before looking up at me.

"He's just awoken after being unconscious for several hours. He's not very stable, and he doesn't know completely what's going on, but you are welcome to visit him." he speaks slowly, too slowly for my liking.

I nod my head. "I'd like to see him, yes."

He smiles weakly before motioning for me to follow him. I follow closely behind him, turning ever corner until we land at a room. He opens the door and I peek around him, seeing Joey laying on a bed. One of his legs is in a white cast, along with one of his arms. A bandage is wrapped around his head and I notice multiple cuts and bruises scattered along his still beautiful face. Even in this shattered state, he still manages to look breathtaking.

I almost run over to him. I almost jump onto the bed and plaster kisses all along him. I almost tell him I love him.

Almost.

But I don't. I stand there in the doorframe, my eyes clouding over with tears. He looks at me with wide eyes, a small smile forming on his damaged face.

"Danny?" he chokes out, and the sound alone almost makes me fall to the ground.

And right then, that's when I broke. I ran over to him, gently cradling his cheek and kissing his cut lips. He winces, but immediately kisses back. I can feel the doctors gaze on us, but in this moment I don't care.

"I love you." I whisper against his lips, his lips turning upright into a smile.

"I love you too."
