Daniel's POV
"Preston?" I answer Joey, more as a question than a statement. His brows furrow, pushing past me lightly and looking through the peephole.
Joey yanks the door open, a glare devouring his face as soon as he sees the visitor.
"What the fuck do you want, Preston?" Joey growls, his eyes darkening.
Preston tenses for a brief moment before turning to look at me, smiling momentarily, and looking back at Joey.
"I assumed you'd be here," Preston says to Joey, pushing past both of us and entering my home.
"I've got something of yours." Preston states simply, reaching into his pocket.
Joey grabs onto Preston's wrist, restraining him from removing the item from his pocket. I watch in confusion as the two boys stare at each other darkly, their sharp features growing even more defined as they tense. I feel as if there's something going on between the two that I don't know about, and that's when it hits me. What Preston said to me at the hospital.
"Take it out, Preston." I demand, taking a step closer to them. Joey looks at me meekly, resembling a terrified mouse.
"D-Daniel, please. Just make him leave. Whatever it is, it's probably s-stupid." Joey stutters, his voice trembling slightly. I look at him, shaking my head.
"No. I will not. You shouldn't have anything to hide from me, and if you do, maybe this isn't going to work out." I snap, causing Joey to nod slowly and bow his head down. My head turns so I'm facing Preston, motioning for him to remove the item.
As he removes his hand from his pocket, he pulls out some type of clothing item. I watch as he unfolds it, revealing a pair of briefs...Joey's briefs. I turn my head, looking at him. My mouth is agape, feeling years prick my eyes.
"I-It's not what it l-looks like," Joey whispers, scurrying towards me and cupping my cheeks with his hands. I step away from him, backing away.
"What does it look like, Joey?" I exclaim, flailing my arms.
"I–" he begins, but I interrupt him.
"No. I don't want to hear it. How could I have been so naïve?" I mutter, mentally slapping myself.
"You aren't, baby. I promise, I've changed." he begs, attempting to touch me again. I shake my head, grabbing onto the door handle.
"No, you haven't. You're still that same slut who has slept with more guys than he has hairs on his head." I spit out, pushing Preston out of the apartment before storming out, hot tears rushing down my face.
I run down the stairs of the apartment building, rushing out the doors and into the cold. I shiver at the cold wind making contact with my skin, causing me to hug my own body. My legs carry me towards my car, happily finding my keys in my pocket as I hop inside, allowing the tears to spill,
feeling as if they'll never stop.
(a/n: hey, you there. i see you over there. i want you to come here...🌚)
