Joey's POV

I wake up to the familiar beeping sounds of machines in a hospital room. My eyes flutter open and I look down at myself. An intravenous drip is in my wrist and a stinging pain coating my face. A shooting pain was sent throughout my head which caused me to flinch with the slightest movement.

The room is silent except for the faint beeping sound and the sound of feet pitter pattering in the hallway. The past events are about as clear as mud. I faintly remember heading to the bridge, but the rest is merely a blur. All that is clear in my mind is Daniel. He's probably so fucking happy without me. I was always just a nuisance to his life, wasn't I? A simple boulder in the way of a vehicle. Hard to move, but once it is, it's gone forever. Nobody wants to work just as hard to return it to the spot where it'll just cause more trouble.

My thoughts are interrupted by the door opening and a doctor entering the room.

"Hello there, Joseph," the doctor greets me. I just stare off into the distance blankly as he takes a seat on the chair beside the bed.

I don't respond, I simply continue staring.

"You should be out of here soon. You've only got some bad cuts and bruises, especially on your face. You have a broken nose, but nothing severe enough to leave any remanence once it is fully healed."

I nod at the doctor's words.

"The man who brought you in would like to see you. Is that alright?" the doctor asks and I nod slightly in response.

Suddenly someone walks into the room. I see them out of the corner of my eye which causes me to turn.

"Preston?"

Third Person's POV

Sometimes in dramatic situations, we don't think clearly. We don't see what is right in front of us. We are unable to comprehend what is happening because we are in such pain, shock, anger, or worry. This is what happened to Joey.

He thought the man was a stranger. He thought he was simply a concerned bystander who happened to come by at that exact moment. But he wasn't, and Joey now knows this.

Preston Prince saved his life.
