Daniel's POV
I forget about going to bathroom, walking away confidently and taking my seat next to Joey again. He raises his eyebrows at me, but I just shrug, and soon his name is called. We both stand up, my hand enveloping his. He's using one crutch today instead of two, claiming holding my hand is more important than his leg. I beg to differ, but I didn't say much about it.
We receive a few odd glances and smiles, but mostly nobody really looks at us. I smile, looking down at Joey. I know sooner rather than later we have to sit down and talk about things, but right now I just want to love him. I want to have a few moments of peace before all hell breaks loose.
My thoughts are interrupted by a tap on my arm, so I look over at Joey. He smiles meekly before talking.
"We just have to go into the room and wait a little while and then I can get this little fucker off." he chuckles, and I smile, nodding my head.
We head into the room, taking a seat and waiting patiently.

"How does that feel?" I ask, inspecting Joey's now naked arm. He shrugs, moving it around a little bit.
"Quite a bit better." he smiles, and I nod, feeling his arm snake around my waist, removing it before we get back into the vehicle.
The drive back to my place is comfortably quiet, the only sound in the car being me humming quietly to the overplayed songs on the radio. His hand is gently resting on my thigh, inching uncomfortably close to my...area. Not that I mind, but it is slightly distracting.
Once we get back, I help him into the building, and we decide to take the elevator. Hope isn't home when we get into the apartment, and I assume she's out already. She tends to leave early and stay out late, me rarely seeing her anymore. In high school we stuck together, but we seem to be slowly drifting apart and losing common interests. She's out with her other newfound friends while I'm either with Joey, doing homework, or reading a novel. As I've already proved, parties really aren't my scene.
We take a seat on the couch immediately, and I snuggle up close to him, sighing contently. I think to myself, finally, peace and quiet, no distractions, just us...
But it doesn't turn out that way.
(a/n: sorry for the lack of updates. i will try and start updating regularly again, and I'm sorry I've been so inactive with updating...I've just been stuck in such a rut lately and i feel like my writing isn't good enough and that I'm just generally not good enough for anyone anymore...)
