(Jacob's POV)

This is so not fair! I thought to myself as I paced around my room. I just asked him who is has been talking to lately and this is how he reacts!?. "Grrrr!" I grunted loudly as I kicked my bed. I began to immediately regret it as sharp pains shot through my foot. I took off my shoe, held onto my foot and tried to rub the pain out. As the pain went away my anger subsided to a small level of frustration, so I laid down on my bed and fell asleep.

(Max's POV)

As I walked towards the family room I saw Ross sitting in the couch. I sat on the other end of the couch and sighed. "I heard what happened." Ross said.
"I never want to do that anymore, it hurts too much." I said.
"What is so important that you can't tell Jacob? He is your kid after all." Ross asked.
"It's complicated and I don't want to talk about it." I said.
"Ok. Oh! By the way we got a call from the hospital, Jacob has an appointment for his cast to come off tomorrow." Ross said.
"Really!? Well then maybe you will find out why I couldn't tell Jacob sooner than I expected." I said.

(Timeskip to the next day)
(Jacob's POV)

I woke up to Max knocking on the door. "What do you want!? It's too early for this!" I said grumpily.
"We are going to the hospital I think that North is able to leave today." Max said. When I heard what Max said I gained a burst of energy and got ready as fast as I could. When I finished I went outside to see Max and Ross in the car waiting. I got in the backseat and we left. As we were driving I apologized to Max. "What are you apologizing for?" Max asked.
"I shouldn't have tried to snoop in you personal business, I was just curious." I said.
"It's fine I accept your apology and I should apologize as well, I shouldn't have blown up on you like that. Here." Max said as Ross handed me back my phone. I smiled and said, "thanks and no matter what happens I love you Da- I mean Max." I saw Max blush. "Just call me whatever you want, Dad, Max, doesn't matter." Max said. I nodded and he saw through the rear view mirror. "Oh we're here." Ross said. We got out of the car after Max parked and walked inside. As we walked in the receptionist said, "hello Jacob, are you ready for your appointment?".
"What?" I said confused.
"Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you... you get your cast off!" Max said. It took a little while to sink in and then I got a huge smile on my face as the doctor came to escort me to the back room.

(Max's POV)

"So what is it that I am finding out early?" Ross asked.
"You'll see." I said mysteriously.

(Timeskip to getting cast off)
(Jacob's POV)

"Oh my gosh! My arm feels so free right now!" I said as I was waving my arm around.
"Now be careful, your arm can still be a bit sensitive." The doctor said.
"Oh ok." I said as I stopped moving my arm around. We walked back to the main room where, surprisingly, Jess and North were. "When did you get released?" I asked.
"After I got my cast off this morning." North said. I hugged her and looked over at Jess. She looked at me as I lipped, does she know you are adopting her?, Jess nodded. "Sorry to break you two up but here Jacob, open this." Max said as he handed me an envelope. I was going to ask what was inside but I knew he would say to open it. So I opened the envelope and I could believe what I saw.
