"So, I wondering if you wanted to do something special for our 2 week anniversary," Jace says.  I plop down on my bed, still holding my phone to my ear.

"I don't get why we're talking on the phone when we live right beside each other," I laugh.

"Well, I'm busy at the moment..." he trails off and the phone goes silent for a moment, before he starts speaking again.  "So, did you want to do anything?"

"Why not?"

"Cool.  My dad said I can have the car, so I'll pick you up at 7?"

"But, Jace?"

"Yeah?" He asks.

"Your only 15.  How are you going to drive us anywhere?"  I laugh at the idea of us flying down a highway, but stop soon after realizing that fantasy could become a reality.

"I have my ways around things.  Plus, my birthday is coming up soon, so really it's no big deal."

"Okay.  I guess I'll see you at 7."

"Cool!" I can practically see him fist bump , and I roll my eyes.  "I love you, Rose."

Just hearing him say those three words to me makes my heart ache for him to be by my side.  "I love you too.  Bye."

"Bye." With that he hangs up.

"Jace!" I say as he barely misses a lamppost.

"I know!  I'm sorry!"

I'm holding on to the handle on the ceiling of the car for dear life.  I squeeze my eyes shut as we fly around the curb.  "The cops are going to be on our tail any minute!  Slow down!"

He doesn't respond.

"Jace!"

He slams on the brakes just in time for a red light, and I nearly go through the windshield.

"JACE!"

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry..."

I let out a breath I didn't realize I had been holding in.  "Just please be more careful."

"I'll try."  I can tell that he is trying, he just doesn't know how to drive.

The rest of the ride is silent.

I open the door to his fathers car and step out, looking all around me.  I find myself standing in front of a big open meadow.  It looks like no ones stepped foot out here for years.  The grass is almost to my knee and there is flying debris all around.  I feel a slight breeze and wrap my arms around myself.  It's pretty cold for being only 7:30 in San Diego.  The setting sun is beautiful, and looking at it somehow makes me feel warmer.  I smile and turn to Jace, who has gotten out of the car and is now standing right beside me.  "This is absolutely beautiful."

"I try to pick the best spots out for ma'lady."  He beams.

I turn back and look at the field, suddenly wanting to run through it and forget about everything that has gone wrong in my life.  But instead of running, I start walking into it, stomping down the overgrown grass as I go.

"Wait!"  Jace yells.  I stop and turn back towards him to see him go to the trunk of the car and get a black blanket with skinny, blue stripes on it.  After he catches up to me I keep walking.  Jace reaches for my hand, and I let him take it.  We walk to what I'm guessing is the middle of the meadow, when Jace sets down the blanket.  We lay it out, me on one side and Jace on the other.  Then he lays down one way, and I lay down the opposite way, so only our faces meet in the middle of the blanket.

I look up at the sky and I feel him looking at me.  I keep looking at the sky.  The sunset is one of the most breathtaking sunsets I've seen in a while.  The clouds big close to me, but then as I look farther away they become smaller.  They kind of look like the think that kids do to underline their names in a year book.  They underline the whole name and make the line get smaller the farther from the name they get.  The sky behind it ombres with the clouds.  Starting out with a pinkish purple color, and slowly going to orange then to yellow.  It is the purest for of beautiful there is.

"Isn't the sky gorgeous?" Jace asks as if he read my mind.

"Yes, it's beautiful."  I turn my head so I can look directly at Jace's face.

He keeps looking at me, our faces inches apart.  "Almost as beautiful as you."  Then, he cringes and turns his head back towards the sky.  "Sorry, that was really cliche.  I just ruined the moment."

"No you didn't," I smile.  I bring my hand up to his chin and turn his face towards me.  "I think it was a beautiful thing to say."  I pause, thinking about whether or not I should make fun of him.  Yeah, I want to.  "Almost as beautiful as you."

We both chuckle, and he says, "Oh shut up."

"No, but really it was a nice thing to say."

"Almost as nice as you."

"We need to stop."

"Okay."

I look into his chocolate brown eyes and smile the biggest I've smiled in a long time.  How did I get lucky enough to live next to him?  My life's crap, okay?  Like complete crap, nothing goes right ever.  But getting to meet him, getting to be able to just step outside and step ten steps to my left, and being at his front door; that was probably the only thing that has gone right in my life.  I have never loved someone more in my life then Jace.  Even more then my good for nothing father.  Slightly more then my helpless mother.  Just, when I look at Jace I feel safe, like nothing could bring me down.  When I look into his chocolatey brown eyes I feel at home, where ever that home maybe.  Whether its California or Pennsylvania, I feel like I belong.

Both of our phones buzz, interrupting our thoughts.  Apparently, Jace was deep in thought too from the startled expression on his face.  It's a text from Dan Schneider.

'Emergency Danger meeting tomorrow.  Mandatory, no exceptions.  Something big has happened.'

((Hey!  I'm really sorry I haven't updated in forever, but thank you guys for 11k!  That is unbelievably awesome!  Due to the fact I'm unable to write often and I'm not really obsessed with Jace anymore, I'm gonna wrap this story up.  Maybe like one or two more chapters and thats it.  But thank you guys again, you are truly awesome people and I wuv you!!)
