Gabriel’s POV
We walked into English and the way everyone turned to look at us was just plain weird, they were acting like we killed someone,
“Glad you could join us Mr Arymiyoni and Miss Mckenzie, why are you late?”
“We’re not late, we’re on time”
“You are still late in my book”
“Sorry but Serena had a bit of a setback, she only did come out of the hospital today”
Serena looked at me confused but she didn’t say anything,
“Oh, why didn’t you say that then? Are you feeling better now Serena?”
“Uhhh, yeah, thank you”
“Okay, take your seats then”
I grabbed her hand and pulled her towards our seats which were right at the back,
“Okay so today we will be pairing up, since we’re doing Romeo & Juliet, I would like you to argue about whether or not Romeo & Juliet’s love was true” This should be very interesting, I’m quite good when it comes to English and arguing so the two put together is great “You may start”
I turned around to face Serena “So, do you think it’s true?”
She nodded “I believe in love at first sight and that’s what they had”
“They knew eachother for 5 minutes”
“Exactly, love at first sight”
I shook my head “He asked her to marry him after one day, that’s not true love, that’s puppy love, you have to get to know someone before you take that step”
“But if you love eachother enough or if you know they’re the one, you don’t have to wait to take that step, it just feels right”
“Yeah but true love and puppy love are two completely different things, no one can fall in love that quick”
“Can’t they?”
“Not that quick, their love wasn’t true, it was fake”
“It was as true as they come, I can’t believe your saying it as fake”
“It was! It can’t be real Serena, so your telling me that if I met you now and I came up to you saying, I love you and we should get married, you’d believe me?”
“It depends on how I would feel, they felt the same way about eachother, it wasn’t one sided”
“It doesn’t matter if it was one sided or not, no one can just see someone and love them straight away”
“Why can’t they?”
“Because it doesn’t work that way!”
“Why? Why can’t someone love someone else when they first see them? You get that feeling inside you Gabriel, how would you know what love is? How would you know how it works?”
I looked down and whispered “Because I’m already in love”
“What was that?”
“Nothing, it doesn’t matter”
