Gabriel’s POV

I can’t believe Serena nearly got raped; it still isn’t registering in my mind. I really should’ve been protecting her better, if I just stayed with her, everything would’ve been fine. I am actually packing up our stuff, I decided to cut our holiday short, its best if she was at home rather than in a country she hardly knows. I finished packing the last of her stuff and I brought our suitcases downstairs by the door. I was about to go back upstairs and wake up Serena but when I turned around she was already downstairs,

“What are you doing?”

You could tell by her voice that she was still a bit shaken up, she also had a nightmare in the middle of the night and it broke my heart to see her like that,

“We’re going home”

“Why?”

“I promised that I would protect you always, so we’re going home, its better if we went home”

“So you just assume you know what’s better for me now?”

“No, that’s not it; I just want to be in a country we know”

“Were you gonna ask how I felt about this at all?”

I nodded “Of course I was, I just didn’t want to spring this on you after…”

I trailed off, not really wanting to finish my sentence “Just say it Gabriel… After I nearly got raped”

I shook my head slightly “I can’t”

“Say it”

“I won’t”

“Just say it!”

“Okay fine! You want me to say it? I’ll say it! I want to take you home because you nearly got raped, I want to protect you with every part of my body, love you like no one else has and will, I want to keep you safe and even if you don’t want me to, tough luck because I’m going to” I walked towards her “Nothing will stop me from protecting you”

“So, you’d put your life on the line for me?”

“I’ve done it once and I’d do it again”

She shook her head “You shouldn’t have to risk your life, you shouldn’t have to protect me, and you shouldn’t have to do anything for me just because I’m too vulnerable or too weak to do anything for myself”

I grabbed her waist and I could see that she was about to push me away but I shook my head,

“Trust me” She looked into my eyes and she eventually dropped her arms to her side “You’re not too vulnerable or too weak because you are one tough woman when the situation comes”

She looked down to the ground “I can’t be that tough, I couldn’t even protect myself”

I tilted her head up to look at mine “You couldn’t because you wasn’t given the chance to, I know you well enough that if you weren’t outnumbered you would’ve fought your way through”

“You don’t know that”

“I do know that and I know you, I know you very well”

“You can’t know me that well”

“Your favourite colour is red, you had a cat named Rigio, Your favourite SpongeBob episode is ‘The Graveyard Shift’, your favourite movie is Inception, and your favourite scary movie is Saw, the last one to be exact. You love McDonald’s but you love KFC more, you hate spicy foods because you once ate a pizza not realising it was extra hot and you never ate spicy foods again. Your favourite book is ‘Miracle Cure’ by Harlan Coben, which was nearly 600 pages and you read that in a week. You used to play guitar but stopped at 13, your favourite drink is KA Fruit Punch, still not fizzy and you want to become an artist or an architect… Anything else you want me to tell you?”
