Chapter 8 - Curiosity Killed the Cat

Day 6

"Lucy it's ok." Andrew continued.

I sobbed into my hands.

"Lucy please." He went on.

I felt his hand land on my leg.

I looked up at him.

"Sorry." He removed his hand.

"I just want to go to sleep." I choked out.

"Ok." He added.

"I'm going to pick you up." He warned.

I nodded.

He lifted me up bridal style and carried out of the library.

I hid my face in the crook of his neck. Sobbing and soaking his shirt.

"Where's your room?" He stopped and asked.

"Two twenty-two." I whispered.

"You're in that room?" He sounded worried.

I would have asked what was wrong but I was too tired.

He carried me to the room and opened the door. Quietly, he placed me in my bed and squeezed my hand.

"Good night Lucy." He whispered.

I looked up to say goodnight, but he was gone.

I woke up and rubbed my eyes. My black eyeliner smudged onto my hands. I had forgotten to remove my makeup. Great.

Kira wasn't in her bed. I pulled a blanket over my shoulders and trudged out of the room.

And into Vivian and Cameron's room. I opened the door to Kira, Viv, and Cameron sat together on the floor talking.

The room fell silent as soon as I walked in.

I collapsed onto Vivian's bed face first.

"I'm sorry." I said softly.

"You know don't you?" Kira spoke up.

"Yeah." I nodded my head into the pillow.

"How?" Vivian asked.

"I uh-I stole your card out of your bag. Sorry about that too." I felt bad for lying, and for fake stealing her card.

"Are you okay?" Kira asked.

"No." I sat up.

Vivian and Kira sat next to me on the bed.

"You'll be safe here you know. That's what it's made for, to keep you safe." Cameron finally spoke.

"That's not why I'm upset. It's just, I've realized how long it's going to take for my parents to come home." I leaned on Kira.

"Eventually you'll get used to it." Vivian replied.

"I guess. Hey I left my jacket in the library. I'm going to see if it's still there." I picked myself up and left the room.

I let the door close behind me and k started to leave, until k heard my name and decided to listen.

"She'll get over it." I heard Cameron's voice say.

"Do you think she's lying?" Kira spoke.

"About what?"

"About not being afraid of Romenoff. I mean, I would." Kira replied.

"I know what she is lying about." Vivian spoke.
