Day 9
The morning came quicker then I would have appreciated. Both Cameron and Vivian were awake when I say up and rubbed my eyes.
"Can we-" I started to say, but Vivian quickly stopped me by shushing me and motioning to Kira rolled up in a ball still asleep.
"Can we go get breakfast?" I whispered.
They both nodded and we left the room with a note to Kira telling her to meet us at the table when she wakes up.
We lined up for pancakes and bacon and slid through the line with our trays. Once we got all of our food, we headed to our table.
"Last night was crazy." Cameron spoke first braking the silence.
"I don't really want to talk about it." I pored syrup over my golden pancakes.
"When's the next time you're going to see Andrew?" Vivian leaned forward.
"I don't know." I took a bit of the bacon.
"Have you checked the library recently?" Her face lit up.
"No Vivian. I've been a little busy, if you couldn't tell." I snapped and slammed the syrup bottle down on the table.
They both just looked at me.
"Sorry." Vivian put her head down.
I took a deep breath.
"No I'm sorry. It's not your fault. It's just with Andrew, my family, Hazel, and everything I've been a little stressed." I closed my eyes.
"I know. I was the same way when I got here. I studied every book I could to learn where my parents were. But I never found anything. And eventually I just gave up. And life was so much easier. I got used to my life and now I'm happy. Now I'm not telling you to give up, but I think it would be nice if you just took a break." Vivian finished.
"Hey guys." Kira sat next to me and looked at us. She had dark bags under her eyes. Her hair was tied up in a pony tail.
"Hey Kira." I smiled.
"Listen Lucy, I'm sorry we kept that from you for so long. It's just only a few people know about it and Mrs. Genevieve wants to keep it a secret. But I promise no more secrets." She squeezed my hand.
"Thank you. My life already is one big secret." I chuckled at my own sadness.
"Can we change the subject. Lucy you need to be looking for another chance to see Andrew, and this time you're bringing me!" Cameron smiled.
"You are not third wheeling my second date Cameron." I replied.
"Andrew date?" Kira's face fell.
"Yeah. What's wrong?" I stared at her.
"Nothing." She shook it off.
"What did we just say about keeping secrets." I nudged her shoulder.
"It's just I don't trust him."
"What? why? You don't even know him!" I laughed.
"He was the last person who talked to Hazel." She told us all.
Silence loomed over all of us. We slowly sat back in our seats.
"Good morning girls!" Mrs Genevieve appeared at our table.
"Good morning." None of us looked her in the eye.
"What's won't girls?" Mrs Genevieve plastered a fake frown.
