Day 62

It had been about two weeks since my meeting with Jackson in the library.

Things were different.

I often Kira, Viv, and Cameron whispering then immediately stop when I walk into a room.

Andrew visits me at least once or twice a week. The boys building is starting to notice his frequent absences.

Mrs. Genevieve asked why you had been in bed so much these two weeks.

"Well Mrs. Genevieve, while you were taking teenage girls from their families and bringing them to a seemingly safe yet dangerous 'temporary confinement' I've been dropped by an elevator, threatened, beaten, and haunted."

Ok so maybe I didn't really say that, but I sure wanted to.

Meanwhile I have been going to the lounge every night to think. I would go to the library, but I don't think I could ever go in there alone again.

There were just too many things to piece together.

Ok, first who fits into this? Andrew, Kira, Viv, Cameron, Jackson, Kristin, Mrs. Genevieve, Hazel, Stephanie and Adeline.

Whoa. Too many people.

"Why am I even trying. I'm thinking of who fits into 'this' when I don't even know what 'this' is. I don't know what's going on!" I collapsed into the couches lime green leather.

"Lucy?" Kira, Viv, and Cameron appeared at the doorway together.

"See, I told you she'd be here." Cameron whispers to Vivian.

"I thought she would be in the library." Vivian whispered back.

"She can't go back in the library that's where they beat the crap out of her." Cameron whispered to the two.

"Why would she go back in there alone? They could come back!" Kira joined in.

"Guys! I can hear you." I stated.

"Oh. Sorry." Cameron walked over to me.

"We didn't mean to make it worse." Vivian sat next to me.

"We need to talk to you." Kira placed her bad on my shoulder.

"Guys chill with the soap opera crap. Lucy, we don't think you should see Andrew anymore."

My mouth dropped. They had to be kidding. Andrew means everything to me.

"You can't be serious." I sat up.

"We are. We think he's bad news." Kira replied.

"He's not!" I started to get defensive.

"Think of all the stuff that happened since you met him. The elevator, getting on Mrs Genevieve's radar, Jackson! Before him we were running up and down the halls spraying soda. Don't you remember?" Kira got defensive too.

"Of course I do! But I also remember my times with Andrew. He set me free form this place. He saved me. He loves me." I smiled.

"Listen Lucy, just be careful." Vivian squeezed my hand.

"No. It's too late to be careful. He's done too much already." Kira looked down on me.

"You're just mad because he's the last one who spoke to Hazel!" I stood up to meet her gaze.

"Leave her out of this." Kira moved back.

"No! That's why you don't like him. You never did! Because he's the last one who spoke to Hazel before you let her get dragged out a window!" I shouted.

Kira's jaw fell. Tears cascaded down her face. Her eyes lost the life in them.

"Kira, I-" I reached for her arm, but she pulled away.

"Ever since you came here I've done everything for you. I've looked out for you. Like a sister. Like I did Hazel." Kira spoke to me with her face down.

"I know you have. I love you for that. But so has Andrew. He loves me, and I might love him." I blushed.

"He's the last one who spoke to Hazel. He's the only one who knows more than me. He's Mrs Genevieve's son. None of that sounds suspicious to you?" She asked.

"It does. But I trust him. He would never hurt me." I smiled.

"How are you so sure?" She stared at me.

"I don't know, but I am. Trust me Kira, what happened to Hazel won't happen to me." I hugged her.

"Ok. Just please, stay cautious." She warned.

"I will. I'm seeing him tomorrow." I smiled.

"Well that was a failed intervention." Cameron finally spoke.

"Not failed, just unnecessary." I blushed thinking about my afternoon with Andrew soon to come.
