"Good morning sweetheart." The warm voice shifted across the room bouncing off the red walls and art easels.
The curtains hanging neatly on the window blocked the light begging to come through. She pulled the curtains out of the way and the sunlight filled the room instantly.
Lucy rolled over to block the light from her face. She was tired after a long night of studying for exams.
"Lucy. Get up please, your father and I are late."
The woman's dark brown hair cascaded down her shoulders and finished just below her hip. She refused to cut it unless absolutely necessary.
Lucy finally sat up and rubbed her eyes. She blinked her eyes a few times before smiling at her mother who was wearing a pantsuit with her paisley pajama bottoms.
"Forget something Mom?" Lucy laughed while throwing her legs off the edge of her bed.
"I told you, we're running late. Get dressed and come down for breakfast." Her mother hurried out of her room and into hers.
Lucy finished her cold shower and buried down the stairs before her mother lost it again.
"Cold shower?" The man dressed in a black suit holding the newspaper asked without looking up.
"Yup." Lucy replied rummaging through the kitchen searching for a granola bar.
"Cold pillow?" He asked again.
"Of course." She replied pulling two granola bars out of the box.
"Strawberry for you chocolate for me?" He asked finally.
"Everyday." Lucy laughed and tossed him the chocolate granola bar.
The man was her father. And his hair was the exact same as his wife and daughters. The whole family resembled each other perfectly.
"Are you ready dear?" Her mother called while hurrying down the stairs.
"Ready as I'll ever be." Her father placed the paper down and went to the stairs.
"Lucy come her for a moment dear." She heard her mothers voice crack suddenly.
Lucy left the table to join her parents at the front door.
"I love you very much dear." Her mother leaned on her father starring deep Into Lucy's eyes.
"Love you too Mom." Lucy smiled.
"You're so beautiful and creative. We're so lucky to have you." She forced a smile.
"You okay mom?" Lucy chuckled.
"I'm fine dear." Her mother turned to hide her face.
"I'll see you later Strawberry." Her father pushed Lucy's hair out of her eyes.
"See you later Chocolate." Lucy chucked nervously.
"We love you so much dear. Just know that." Her mother pulled Lucy in for a tight hug.
"What's going on guys? I'll see you after school." Lucy picked up her bag off the end of the stairs.
"Of course honey. We just, we want you to be safe, okay?" Her father smiled.
"It's school. Not war. I'm fine." Lucy smiled.
"Okay. I love-" a beeping noise interrupted her mother.
"We need to go hon." Her father started to pull her mother out of the house.
"Love you Lucy! We'll be back soon I promise!" The last thing her parents saw was Lucy's confused expression.
"Why don't we just tell her before she has to go?" Her mother shut the car door and looked at Lucy's father.
"It'll be much better explained by Mrs Genevieve." He started the car.
"I feel awful leaving her like this. Swept up by men while walking home from school. Taken to a far away place. Who know how long it'll be." She started to remove her pantsuit to reveal a leather jacket with dozens of gadgets tucked in the pockets.
"She'll be safe there hon, and we'll catch Rominoff before you know it." He calmed his wife down while placing his hidden guns in their cases.
"You're right. She'll be safe. I just hope she's not going to hate us." Her mother reached for every bit of strength she had not to run in the house and hug her daughter one last time.
"I trust Mrs Genevieve with my life. As well as Lucy's. Our little girl is safe." The two pulled out of the driveway and headed off to the location the Child Safety Center had told them to go. Leaving Lucy behind.
