 Spike’s POV

Knock Knock Knock

Who the heck is pounding on the door this early on a Saturday morning?
Ugh. Fine, I’ll get it. I don’t want to wake Ellie, anyways.  I rub my head groggily and shuffle down the hall towards the door. Dammit, she already got the door.  And who else but Tristan is standing there, staring at Ellie adoringly.  Two years may have passed, but Tristan and I still behave like total strangers to each other.  He is really staring at Ellie today.  Why is he-… Holy shit.  That’s why.

Her hair is falling sloppily out of a bun.  Her baggy sweatpants are low-rise and highlight her muscle-y stomach.  But the most shocking part is her boobs.  I mean their like mountains out of her tight tank top.

“Nice push- up bra, Ellie,” I smirk, trying to remain cool.  But my meister looks hot.

“Oh, shut up. I don’t go for stuff like that.  You should know me by now…” Crap.  She looks offended.  Well whatever.

“Tristan, what do we owe the terribly early surprise?” I interject before we start bickering about what types of bras she wears.

“Well, my phones busted, I don’t know the new landline number and my mom wanted me to invite you guys to the barbeque tonight.”

I scoff, “As if.” I turn away and walk towards the kitchen to try to find something to eat.

“What he means is, we are going on vacation to Japan tomorrow… He’s taking me to visit his family.  We were going to try to catch up on obtaining souls today, and then tomorrow our flight is at four in the morning! So, naturally, it’s an early night for us! Sorry, Tristan.  You know I love your family barbeques… Give everyone my love and tell them I miss them!”

Crap.  I forgot about all that stuff.  Oh right.  Ellie and I were fighting yesterday, so she couldn’t nag me about packing.  Ugh, I don’t want to visit my family.  The only reason I’m going is because I haven’t seen everyone in two years and Ellie’s been getting on my case about visiting family.  Jeez, what a hypocrite.

Ellie comes in the room, pours herself a coffee and snatches the half eaten donut off my plate.

“Hey!”
“You don’t need the sugar… And anyways it’s the last one.  After I finish eating and get dressed, let’s go soul hunting. M’kay?”
“Sure, but why so early?” I still feel half asleep, so I grab her coffee and take a big swig.

Ellie purses her lips and snatches it back.  Oh right.  I’m supposed to not interfere with her caffeine.  But all the rules go down the drain when she steals my donuts…

“Because, I know you haven’t packed AND we have to go to bed early tonight.”

We get dressed in our usual attire and go out hunting.  Ellie finds a soul quickly.  It’s a big, ugly one.  The second it sees Ellie it swings.

“Spike! Transform!” Oh right.

Ellie dodges the attack with seconds to spare.  She rebounds of the wall, swinging me at the hideous creature.  I hardly make a dent.  Instead of getting annoyed, Ellie just finds another approach.  This time she rushes at the kishin soul from underneath, pushing me upside-down into the kishin’s gut.  This time my blade sinks in easily, and in a big cloud of smoke the red egg appears. We capture four more souls just on this hunt.  When we finally get back to the apartment, I’m exhausted.

Just as I’m about to lie down, Ellie intercepts me.

“No. I don’t think so. Go and pack. Now.”  God dammit.  Does she have to be so controlling?  I hear pots and pans clattering in the kitchen.  Oh death no… Ellie is the most horrendous cook I’ve had the misfortune to meet.

“Hey, um. I don’t know what I’m doing packing.  Will you do it for me? And I’ll cook?” I smile nicely.  Hopefully she’ll take the bait.

“Oh. Sure, I guess,” and she bites! I go into the kitchen and make begin making some Pho.  A few minutes later, Ellie rolls out two bags.  Then she goes back and brings out two more bags.

“Um, what’s with all the bags?”

“Well two are for me.  Two are for you. We are going away for two weeks, we’ll need lots of stuff,” then she starts rambling so I drone her out.

“Spike! Did you hear me? I asked if any of your childhood friends know your coming,” she says as I spoon out the steaming hot liquid into two bowls.

“No. Well, maybe one.  If my parents told her.  I’m not really close with anyone else.  And she’ll probably be mad at me that I haven’t called, texted or written her in two years.”
“Hmph. Okay,” Ellie purses her lips. What’s her deal? Jeez.

We eat our food quickly then go to bed because it’s going to be an early morning.
