Hm.  I hear someone coming down the hallway.  Probably bringing my meal.  That’s good, I guess.  I’m pretty hungry.  I look down at the cool tiles of my prison cell.  How did this happen? How did she beat me so easily with all my training? Why am I not angry with her?  I don’t know what to feel.

The door opens and she walks in, carrying a tray of food.

“Hi,” she says smiling.  How can she smile at me? I tried to kill her!

“Is that all my food?” The tray is overflowing with food.

“Nope. Half of it’s mine,” she says as she sets down the tray and sits down on one of the cushions that litter the floor of the cell.

“You’re eating with me?”

“Yep.  I figured your lonely down in this cell by yourself, so I came to join you.”

“Why?”

“Didn’t I just say?”

“No, why are you being nice to me?”

“Because, there is no reason to be mean. We’ve had our conflict, but I don’t want to fight with you.”

“Hmph. Fine.”

“So, what’s your name? You know mine, but I haven’t had the honor of learning yours,” she semi- jokes.

“I don’t have one…”

“Well, we’ll have to change that now won’t we? Everybody needs a name,” Ellie says flicking a piece of hair over her shoulder.  Why isn’t she daunted about the fact that I don’t have a name? Most people would freak.  She doesn’t care.

“I don’t need a name.  People that need names require affection.  They require attention from other humans.  I don’t need that.  I’ve never been given it, so I’ll never require it the way you do,” I tell her.

“Every person needs attention.  Whether you think it, or not.  Everyone does,” she states.  Just then an alarm goes off on her phone.

“Well, I have class now so I’ll see you tomorrow.”

Then she picks up the tray and leaves, her stark white hair swinging across her bare back.  She really is a gorgeous person, inside and out.  What other girl would come and talk to the boy who tried to murder her the day before? What other girl could look him in the eye and laugh?  What’s wrong with her? How can a single human be so powerful, so pure, so real?

Spike’s POV

Where is she? Making out with Charles again? Gah. Why would she make out with him? How could he make out with her, knowing full- well that she’s my meister? Is he not my best friend?

“Hey there stranger, don’t look so perturbed.  It’s not a good look for you.”

There she is.  “Where were you?”

“Oh, Spike! How sweet of you to get so worried about me!” She is joking around but still it’s really annoying.  I glare at her.

“If our souls are really entwined, shouldn’t you always be able to feel where I am?”

“Ya, well my soul was telling me that you were in the basement where the prisoners are.  So, either you felt the need to run really far away with Charles, or this thing is faulty.”

She sticks out her tongue, “Actually that is where I was.  But, not with Charles.  Why would I go down there with him?”

“I don’t know, to make out again?”
