How it Happened (Christian Yelich | MLB Miami Marlins)

Chapter 8

Soon enough they pulling into the garage at Yelich's apartment complex.

Christian handed Nicole the keys "Head on up. I'ma go check the mail box."

"Okay" Nicole smiled and lead Tessa up the elevator

Christian lived on one of the higher floors of this massive building in downtown Miami. 

"So you stay here a lot?" Tessa asked

"Only when he's in town or I need somewhere chill to be. I normally come and get the mail and what not while the team is traveling or he's in LA visiting his family." Nicole told her as she opened the door

"In other words you practically live here then." Tessa joked

"Something like that I guess." Nicole started turning on lights so they could see "I mean I do have some clothing here and a few things but no I don't live with him. I still live at home with my parents" Nicole laughed "Weird right?"

"Not really. I live at home with my parents too remember" Tessa said taking the bottle of water that Nicole was offering her

Christian walked into the apartment and went into the kitchen to get a snack while Nicole put Tessa's things in the guest room, which had its own bathroom. Which left Tessa to sit on the couch.

"you don't seem freaked out yet?" Yelich took a seat in his lazyboy recliner

"Trust me Im freaking out" Tessa laughed "Just don't want you to think I'm crazy or anything."

"Ive had my fair share of crazy with Nicole already" Yelich said loud enough for his girlfriend to hear "Think I can manage"

"I heard that" Nicole yelled from the room

"Does she always drag along friends or bring people home?" Tessa asked

"Surprisingly no. she's very good at respecting what we have and not wanting to push to much. Plus she see's right threw everyones bull at the start. a few of her "friends" found out we were dating then all of a suddenly started wanting to hang out.. or asking for autographs or other stuff.. she cut them all off real fast" Yelich told Tessa

"Yeah. It was a big surprise for all of us. She just sent an email out saying she enjoyed working with the Marlins that she would be around but no longer an employee. Then the stories from the trips started going around" Tessa recalled "and Thinking about it. All the time you guys were dating. She just disappeared off of social media. Her accounts went on private which she never had private. And she hardly posted stuff anymore."

"She was very concerned with putting stuff out there that involved me. Which I am thankful for. She has a shit load of pictures of us together, as do I. But we like the calm private stuff a lot for now. Eventually fans will figure out who she is. a few have already spotted us together out and about and with the other guys. But she refuses to hold my hand or anything with camera around.. and if she does she makes sure the next time we are out if Stanton is there or one of the other fellas she'll grab him instead. Right now she's just the 'friend' or the 'lucky girl' to these fansites." Yelich laughed

"I guess that makes sense." Tessa started playing with her nails nervous "everything happens for a reason. soon enough she'll get over the not wanting to ruin things for you phase"

"What do you mean?" Yelich asked

"I know her. Its not that she doesn't want to be .. how can i say this.. " Tessa started thinking "well easiest way. if it does get out there, when ya'll are ready to announce it to all your fans or whatever.. and then something happens.. not saying that it will.. but like lets say you start playing bad for some odd reason cause you don't.. she wouldn't want to be the reason why.. wouldn't want your career to suffer. and then she would have a bunch of people talking making her the jinx and what not"

"Never thought bout it that way" Yelich said

As they talked Tessa got more and more relaxed. Hearing from the other room Nicole was please Tessa was just being herself. Hopefully it will stay threw dinner and when Stanton joins them. Feeling relieved Nicole decided to take a shower and wash her hair.

"Sounds like Nicole is taking a shower" Yelich heard the water go on.

Tessa didn't know what to say "Cool?"

Christian laughed "What other stories did Nicole tell you girls after we left"

"None. Although she said something about your first official date but then changed her mind about saying it to the few of us cause some of the office staff were around" Tessa told him

"Oh. Im sure she'll tell you about the date but she won't mention the story about her finally saying yes to it." Yelich said "wanna hear?"

"Do tell" Tessa sat up

"Well you know the part were we talked and texted and I had to pretend that she didn't exist while we were at work and she ignored us" Yelich said

"Yes." Tessa nodded her head
