Chapter 1~ Layla's pov
I started running as fast as my injured body could to my house. I knew Harry and his friends were behind me again and I wasn't ready for another beating today.
I just wanted to get home. Because when I finally got there I would go straight to my room to find my razor. I would take it and put it to my wrist above the scars that had all ready healed and bring it down across my already damaged skin. I threw my razor to the side and looked down at the scarlet drips on my skin suddenly feeling ashamed and weak... So extremely weak.
I could hear my brother walking in but I didn't pay much attention to it. I kept crying into my hands until I felt him pull on my them. My brother was my only family after my parents had died in a robbery gone wrong years ago.
"Layla, what's wrong?" He asked in a gentle voice. I just shook my head.
"Zach I hate this. I hate feeling like this. Weak. I don't want to feel like this anymore." I always told my brother everything, besides Josh my best friend since first grade, Zach was always there for me.
"This has gone on way to long. You said it would stop but it's not Layla. You have to let me help now, please." He pleaded.
I nodded my head finally deciding in my moment of weakness that I needed help. He bandaged my wrists without saying a word, the look on his face made me think it was to keep from crying himself.
Once he was done and I was calm he took me to the car and drove off the second we had gotten inside. "Where are we going?" I finally asked at a stop light.
"Home." He replied with a smile. I turned around looking at the road behind us that lead to our house, confused.
I didn't say anything and let him take me to where ever this was. Finally we pulled up to a huge run down house that seemed to have a gloom over it.
He got out and waited for me to follow behind him. I was hesitant to do so, he didn't want me to walk in that scary place did he?
We made our way up to the door and a large guy stood up to tower over us. Instinctively I hid behind my brother.
"Come on Paul, just let us through." Zach tried to convince him. Something about the way they talked, he seemed so familiar.
The man, Paul, looked behind my brother straight at me and then back to Zach with a diss approving look. "Paul, this is Layla. Layla this is Paul." my brother stated bringing me in front of him. At the sound of my name that mans eyes widened slightly. Eventually he moved to the side giving me a nod and I took it as a chance to walk past him with a little push from Zach.
Zach opened the door since I wouldn't and we entered the creepy place. I could smell the scent of metal, smoke, and something indescribable. The place was loud but in the small entrance I couldn't see anything.
Zach walked me through the hall to a living room where multiple strangers sat. Multiple guys and some girls all silenced and stared at me. They were terrifying.
"She's home." One of them whispered.
What did they mean she's home? I had never been here before, I didn't even know these people. I was starting to get creeped out and I hid near my brother.
"Layla, mom and dad used to come here all the time. You remember when they were gone a lot?" He spoke softly and made it easy for someone young like me to understand because right now I was beyond lost.
I nodded hesitantly, waiting for him to continue.
"See, Layla, mom and dad were a part of this ... club for a long time. They used to run the club before the accident." He search my eyes making sure I was following and I was. "Being a part of this club is very dangerous and it means there will be people who want to hurt you, and that's what happened to mom and dad."
I stumbled back finding a stair to sit on to process what my brother had just told me. My parents were in a gang. They ran a gang. And hardest of all, they died because of it, not because of an accident. I put my head in my hands.
"I know it's a lot Layla. But if you want help, you Want to learn to be strong, we are all here to help you, if that's what you want." Zach spoke in a soothing tone he's used to calm me down many times before.
I looked back up at the group of strangers all looking back at me. How was I supposed to trust them all so willingly. I don't even know them. But my mom and dad had, and now my brother did. I didn't know at the time what I was agreeing to, I just wanted to not feel so helpless anymore. I nodded holding my head high to show I meant it.
"Layla these people will be your family from now on, they will watch over you and protect you always. You can trust them with your life." Zach motioned towards the rat pack bunch behind him
He smiled now standing and helping me up, he stood behind me with his arms on my shoulders protectively.
"Welcome home Layla"
