Chapter 26

Niall's pov

I woke up, my arms empty. I rubbed my eyes and sat up, the covers falling off and piling at my waist showing my bare chest. I looked around to see that I was alone in the room.

Slowly I got out of the bed throwing on some clothes and walking down the stairs, still half asleep. I heard people talking and I stopped. It sounded like Paul... and someone was crying. I walked all the way down the stairs and saw a door ajar near the stairs.

I stood at the bottom of the stairs just staring at the slightly open door. Quiet sobs came from the other side.

"No one said this was going to be easy." Paul said in a low tone. The sobs become muffled and I heard sniffling. What was going on in there?

I heard the front door open and looked to see Layla walking towards me. She smiled but it didn't reach her eyes.

"Morning sleepyhead." She said with a small smile.

I smiled a reply and when I was about to ask her what was wrong she turned towards the door at the sound of the crying that continued once more. She looked at me for an explanation and I just shrugged.

"You can't be scared of them anymore." Paul's voice spoke through the crack in the door and realization hit Layla. A small smile crept to her face and she held up her finger saying she'll be right back, not wanting to talk and be to loud.

I leaned forward slightly trying to hear what was going on once Layla had stepped through the door. "Oh baby girl what's wrong?" Layla cooed and I then knew that Perrie was the one crying. They had started calling her baby girl for some reason and she never said anything about it. I think they all looked at her like a small lost child and it made me feel bad for her a little bit.

"Pauly what did you do to her?" She teased. "Ah, let me guess..." She said but stopped. "Fears." She suddenly said. What? What was she talking about. I crept to the door peeking through the door.

Paul stood in the corner with his arms crossed and a hard face. The room was pretty bare and it was almost completely empty besides a table in the corner that had things on it I couldn't see. That was all I could see of the room through the small crack in the door. Perrie was a crying heap on the floor and Layla was sitting next to her with her arm over her. I had never seen Layla like this... she was being nice.

"Don't let him get to you."She said. "let's try this again. Perrie, come on baby girl, stand up." She said in a soft voice that I had never heard her use before.

Perrie slowly stood with the help of Layla and Layla wiped her tears. Paul stepped forward to take over but Layla put her arm up. "You've done enough." She said to Paul keeping her voice light for Perrie's sake.

"Layla you have never trained someone." He began in a harsh tone but she interrupted him.

"You trained me and I was there when you trained Jade."

"You were 15!" Paul cut in.

"I can remember enough. Besides," she said turning back towards Perrie. "You never change Paully. So, fears..." She said and Paul stood off to the side watching intently.

"Perrie, don't cry, you have to be strong ok?" She asked before she started. Perrie nodded slowly.

"We'll help you don't worry." She added. "Paul don't be rough with her." She said.

"Why not? She needs to get-"

"Paul, not now." She said warningly. "Ok Perrie, what's your biggest fear?" She asked taking me by surprise. What does thins have to do with anything?
