On edge

"What's wrong?" she asks Joe sheepishly.

"I think he might have an upset tummy" Joe informs her.

Niamh looks at Matthew and walks over to Joe and picks Matthew up. "Ooh baby are you poorly?" she coos as she sits down next to Joe with him.

Matthew looks up at Niamh and starts to calm a little. "Are you hungry maybe?" Niamh says as she kisses his head lightly.

"What me to get a bottle?" Joe says.
"No,no I shall feed him" Niamh says.

"Come on baby, it's alright" Niamh says as she pulls her top down slightly. Matthew knows what's coming and kicks his legs out and cries loudly.

"Hey sweetie it's alright" Niamh says as she holds him close to her to see if he will latch.

He latches quickly and seems rather hungry. "Sorry I couldn't get him settled Niamh, he just wouldn't take the bottle and wouldn't stop crying. I've ruined your night with Joe haven't I?" Chloe sighs.

Niamh shakes her head "no, no it's fine" Niamh says.

"Maybe he's sick? He had a few dirty nappies" Chloe suggests.

"Oh gosh don't say that" Niamh says as she gets a little on edge. "He's eating okay" Niamh says.

Niamh strokes Matthew's head and rocks him. Matthew starts to whimper and Niamh realises he isn't getting anything.

She puts him back against him but he moves his head to the side. "Oh darling" Niamh sighs.

Niamh pulls her top backdown and rests Matthew against her chest. "Sh sh" she says as she rubs his back.

Joe watches Niamh and smiles at her and places his hand on her bare knee. She flinches a little and Chloe notices how jumpy she is.

"Niamhy? You okay?" Chloe says.

Joe looks at her and smiles, "erm yeah I'm fine" she says.

"Niamh can I talk you in the kitchen?" Chloe says.

Niamh nods and walks through to the kitchen with Matthew lieing in her arms awake, "someone's not too happy are they darling?" Niamh says as she strokes his cheek as Chloe comes in.

"Tell me the truth" Chloe says as she watches Niamh bounce Matthew lightly.

"Just worried about Matthew that's all" Niamh mutters.

"Lier" Chloe says.

"Hey, no I'm not!" she says.

"What's up then? I mean about an hour ago you were all happy, loved up and turned on by Joe, but now you are all jumpy and quiet and not too happy" Chloe says.

"None of your business" Niamh says.

"Has he hurt you?... He's hurt you hasn't he?" Chloe says.

"Jesus christ Niamh he promised" Chloe says as Niamh stands there quietly.
"Right that's it" Chloe shouts.

Chloe's facial expression changes and in a moment of rage goes through to Joe, "how dare you hurt my sister!" She shouts as she tries to hit him.
