Divination

We returned to Hogwarts with all my new things. I kept my wand in my robe with my phone which was all but useless here. It turned into more of an MP3 player than anything else. It was one of those black Nokia's. I found it under a park bench and took it with me. Some people at the orphanage had phones anyway which they could afford to pay for as they had jobs. They'd bluetooth music to me and Molly and I would listen to music together. There's no plug outlets here so once it dies I won't be able to use it for another month until Christmas holidays.

By the time I got back it was time for my first proper lesson. I thought I would've missed divination but turns out I was just in time. Hagrid walked me because apparently it's confusing to get there. Well, it was definitely a long walk. We had to walk up about 20 flights of stairs! By the time we got there I could've sworn I was sweating through my jumper. It was cold around this part of the castle, too. So I knew once I got in and sat down, I would definitely start sweating.

I entered the class room and the professor was in the middle of introducing herself to the class; "Welcome, my children. In this room, you shall explore the mysterious art of Divination.
You are this room, you shall discover if you possess..." Her head slowly turned to face me like a creepy Chucky doll. Her eyes were huge and wide through her giant glasses. Every part of her seemed to be small other than her eyes and her hair. "Come in, dear," she said softly, "it's ok. I knew you'd be late. How is Olivander? Is he well?"
She surprised me by what she knew. I nodded and walked in. Everyone was sitting in bean bags and sofa's. I found an empty space at the top with Neville so I sat there. I looked around searching for Harry, who was at the bottom with Ron. He smiled and waved and I did the same back.

"Where was I? Ah- yes! The Sight. Hello. I am Professor Trelawney. Together, we shall cast ourselves into the future. But know this. One either has the Gift or not. It cannot be divined from the pages of a book. Books only cloud one's Inner Eye," she said knowingly.

I had absolutely no idea what she was saying. Every word that came out of her mouth confused the hell out of me. It just sounded like a load of waffle. She was just talking and talking about some eye and sight. I was clueless.

Out of nowhere, Professor Trelawney snapped round at Neville and said "you boy! Is your grandmother well?"
"I-I... I think so?" Neville replied shakily
"I wouldn't be so sure! Give me the cup!" She raised out her hand. I realised I also had a cup there, filled with tea. The professor frowned and the cup and muttered "pity" loud enough for the class to hear. Neville, now looking more nervous than usual, took the cup and spun it around as if he was trying to read it. I really didn't understand what was happening.

"The first term will be devoted to the reading of tea leaves. If all goes well, we will proceed to palmistry, fire omens, and finally... the crystal ball." She turned to a girl in the class who I saw on the train called Parvati, "By the way, dear, beware a red haired man," Parvati looked at Ron uneasily and looked back at the professor nervously.

"Unfortunately, classes will be disrupted in February by a nasty bout of flu. I myself will lose my voice. And in late spring, one of our number will... leave us forever," she held her hands together looking like she felt very accomplished. "Well, then. Shall we?"

I felt someone tap my back. I turned around and it was Seamus. "Drink the tea," he whispered. I looked at the tea which had leaves in it. "But she hasn't strained the leaves," I whispered back.
"No," he replied "drinking it and leave the leaves at the bottom with a little bit of tea left". I did so. The tea was vile. It tasted like green tea and camomile. Two of which flavours I hate the most.

Neville and I swapped cups. I opened my book titled "unfogging the future" by Cassandra Vablatsky. From what I could make out, it was a sort of flower (kind of in the shape of a four leaf clover just with an extra leaf), and a blob that could've been a sun. "According the the book... You're going to get a rash and you'll be happy"
"Happy about the rash?" He asked confused. I shrugged my shoulders and he looked into my cup, carefully analysing and assessing. His finger went from the leaves to the text book. His eyes grew wide. "Oh my God... " he said in a whisper
"What? What's wrong"
"Urm... I've probably got it wrong but-"
Neville was interrupted by the shriek of Professor Trelawney.
"My dear," she trembled at Harry, "you have... The grim"
"The grin? What's the grin?" Asked Seamus
"Not the grin, you idiot. The grim" said Parvati
"It's an omen... An omen of death!" Explained professor Trelawney, "it takes the form of a giant spectral dog. It is among the darkest omens of our world". My heart sank. Hermione laughed and told everyone that it was inaccurate and that everyone is going to die at some point, therefore it's a false prediction.

I looked down into my cup. There it was. The grim.
