We'd all made our way downstairs for dinner in the great hall. The school was cold and everyone had the good sense to wear thick jumpers. Other than me. Before we'd left I changed into a soft blue vest top because it was warm in the dormitory, and I assumed, because it's an enchanted school, that everywhere else would be warm, too.
"Out of the ground?" Said surprised Hermione as we made our way down to the Great Hall for our Halloween dinner.
"Yeah, it just grew. I think it was the water," I told her. I had just finished explaining to Hermione how Harry and I had spent our day.
"That's amazing!" She replied fascinated, "I really must get a read up on this power of yours"
Hermione had also chosen this moment to nag about how Harry and I should have spent that time together. Although, between that conversation I was wondering where he had gone all day. I'd never asked.
"Where were you today?" I asked Harry as we made our way down the steps.
"I told you before I left, with Professor Lupin," he replied yawning.
"Yeah, but you never told me what had happened," I said, wanting detailed information of their afternoon, but Harry seemed too tired and distracted, "Harry, are you alright?"
"I'm fine," he replied, itching his head, "I took a nap earlier and... had a bad dream..."
I chose not to ask about his nightmare. Because if his were as bad as mine, then I don't want to know.
"Hello, stranger," said Seamus. He and Dean Thomas were the first two people I'd met from Hogwarts.
"Seamus! Hi, how are you?" I said as we continued to walking while I was rubbing my arms.
"I'm good, thanks for asking, yourself?" He replied smiling
"Uh, yeah, yeah, i'm great!" I pushed my hair behind my ears nervously
"Are you ok?" He asked
"Didn't we just have this conversation?" I laughed lightly, shivering a bit.
"Hey, are you cold?" He asked
"What? No," I lightly laughed it off
"Ah, here," we stopped in the middle of the hallway as he took off his grey wooly jumper which had bits of wool sticking out everywhere and handed it to me. I looked at it confused for a moment and then I managed to process words, "no, thanks, I'm fine, honestly! Put your jumper back on or you'll get cold"
"I'm good in my shirt, you on the other hand, are shivering in that vest top," he replied. I didn't budge, I just kept holding on to my arms. He sighed and put the jumper over the top of my head and pushed my arms through. The static electricity from the jumper made my curly hair frizz and there were frays at the bottom of the jumper. It smelled like aftershave and it was seriously warm.
"Thanks," I said quietly, pushing my hair back.
"You're welcome," he said smiling, and then he turned and caught up with Dean and the rest of his friends who were watching. Looking forward, I saw Harry, Ron and Hermione who were also turned watching. Hermione was giving me a smug look while Ron and Harry were looking nauseous. I rolled my eyes and caught up with my brother and his friends.
We entered the hall where we ate and listened to everyone's stories about Hogsmeade. Neville had beams of light shining from his fingertips and there was a giant marionette that was walking on the table doing all sorts of tricks! Hermione talked of the colour coded shelves at the post office and Ron told tales about Honeydukes. Harry nodded and picked at the sweets.
Seamus bought a little bit and Dean bought a bit more than Seamus. Lavender and Parvati went to a small divination store in the (apparently) quiet part of Hogsmeade. They bought books and weird little "tools" which looked more like toys, and they carried that same annoying face when they talk about divination. Like they know more than everyone else. Which is always.
Looking at the Slytherin table in front if me, I saw Draco with his friends and he was boasting about all the things he'd bought.
He looked up and went to smile at me, but he stopped half way. His friendly smile turned into an angry frown and I had no idea why. I tutted and lightly chucked my fork on to my plate which made a loud clash-clank and I rested back a bit wishing there was a back to the benches.
