We woke up the next morning, and everyone was excitedly getting ready to take their first trip to Hogsmeade. It was snowing like it had been for the past two weeks. Everyone wore their casual clothes. Hermione wore dark blue jeans, a light brown jumper with a turtle neck, her black jacket, and brown boots. Lavender wore a pink dress with black leggings underneath, black boots and a black jacket. Pavarti wore black leggings, black boots and a light blue long sleeved shirt with a black jacket over the top. I wore black leggings, a thick beige v-neck jumper, brown boots and all I had for warmth was my cloak. I figured I'd ask around if anyone had a spare. Not being allowed to go outside and play in snow meant that I didn't need a jacket, and whenever I did go out I just had to make do with what I had.
I was never allowed to go out. It was rare when we got to go for walks. Me being who I am, curious and ignorant, I snuck out a lot and would often steal things from shops, which would explain why I have a phone, why I have a few decent pairs of clothes and these amazing warm boots which I've never had a chance to wear.
While we sat in the common room waiting for Harry and Ron, Hermione began to speak to me about ways to relax when I'm feeling angry, anxious or stressed. Ginny came over at this point and sat with us until we left for breakfast. It didn't seem like Ginny enjoyed the company in her own year as much as she enjoyed the company in our year. Hermione was going to ask around Hogsmeade to try and find a potion or something to help me stay calm. She said she knew of a few apothecaries that she could look at and that she would take a look in Hogsmeade's small library.
We were ready and we went downstairs and ate our breakfast. Harry and I planned how we would get our letter signed by Professor McGonagall. We came up with so many ideas; begging, crying, bribery (my idea), promised extra work and so many more. But when it came down to it, we barley got in a single word.
"No signed permission form, no visiting the village. That's the rule Potter- uh... Potter's," she said sternly and strictly, despite messing up plurals.
"Yes, but Professor, I thought that if you signed it-" Harry had tried
"No I can't. A parent or guardian must sign, and since I am neither it would be inappropriate," she said, with a flicker of pity in her eyes, "I'm sorry you two, that's my final word..." She turned to begin escorting everyone out of the snowy courtyard and into the snowy village.
"Forget it, guys," Harry said to Ron and Hermione, who were watching hopefully. Harry threw the paper onto the ground and kicked it.
"That's so unfair!" I complained
"I didn't even get a chance to get a letter!"
"Just forget it..." He sighed.
"No way! Let's go! We can find a way to sneak out right?" I began excitedly. I hadn't started up any entertaining trouble in a while.
"No, we can't. Not with everything going on... I think I'm going to go and find professor Lupin, do you want to come?" He offered glumly.
"Nah," I replied not as glum, watching everyone leave the stone archways, "if we're going to go look for our favourite teachers to chill out with while everyone else is at this awesome magical village, then Professor Lupin is not the teacher for me!"
"Snape?" Harry guessed
"Snape," I smiled. Harry shook is head as we walked back into the warmth of the castle.
"I just don't understand what it is you like about him so much. He's so... So irritating and mean and nasty," said Harry grimacing, "and I think there's something weird about him. I can't explain it"
"Well maybe that's why I like him so much. I think he's brilliant, he keeps everyone controlled and focused. And he's also helping me out with this bending thing,"
"Yeah, what are you going to do about that by the way? Have you been trying to use it?" He asked
"Nah, not until I get a teacher. Hermione said to not mess with it either. After all, fire is the most dangerous out of all the elements," I replied knowingly. Even though I was not so knowing. Harry nodded as we reached where our paths split.
"Well, I'll catch you later bro," I said holding out my fist. Harry looked at it in confusion.
"You're going to leave me hanging?" I said waiting.
"Uhh..." He hesitated lifting his hand awkwardly and putting it down again.
"Oh for god sakes, Harry! Punch it!" I said in disbelief.
He quickly punched it hard. It kinda hurt. "Urm, not quite that literally," I said rubbing my knuckles, "just like, lightly. Like this," I made the fist and he copied it, and I lightly - lightly - punched it. The situation was so awkward. "Anyways... See you later," I said
"See you," he replied and we walked away.
