Toms POV
"Giovanna we are going to be late if you don't hurry up." I pleaded my wife as she insisted on kissing our two boys Buzz, and Buddy for a fifth time. We were leaving the two year old and three month old children with my younger sister Carrie, but Gi felt so band about leaving them.
Today we were going to an adoption home to meet the child we have waited so long to meet. We have been going through the adoption process for around six months now and we were finally being able to meet the 10 year old little girl who we had been matched with only a few days ago. She had been put into care only a few weeks ago after quite a horrific crash which left her with a badly broken leg and multiple cuts and bruises. She lost her parents in the accident. All we have been informed is that her name is Eden Elise Homes, she has blonde hair and blue eyes and is very shy around new people, especially after what has happened over the past few weeks."Sorry Tom. I just feel bad about leaving them at such short notice." Gi stated whilst walking towards me and the door in my sisters apartment.
"Right, can we can go now?" I joked, half excited and half nervous about meeting our possible future child.
"We can go. Bye guys." Gi started. Oh here goes the big monologue. We are going to be here another five minutes. " have fun with Aunty Carrie and when we come back we might know if you guys are going to get a big sister!" Gi smiled at Buzz giving him one last kiss before finally walking out the door. I said a quick bye to both my sons and my sister before running out the door and jumping into the car.
"You ready?" Gi asked me, giving me a cheesy grin.
"I'm ready!"____
We walked into the care home and the sheer size of it dawned on me a little and I hate to think how many kids live here and the effect it must have on Eden. She's probably used to only having a few people around her but now she's been pulled into a mad home containing lots of children and only a few adults. It just makes me more determined to make sure she gets to come home with us. The main care worker Clair greets us and we are taken into a yellow room with two cream sofas facing each other.
Both Gi and I sat on one sofa while Clair went to get Eden and after about five minutes Clair re-entered the room with Eden. The Ten year old had sandy blonde hair and blue eyes just like what we were told and had her long hair tied back into a pony tail with a mint green bow, her face was cover in bruises and cuts. She was dressed in a Minnie Mouse jumper and a pair of loose fitting jeans, her right leg was covered with a thick red plaster cast and as she sat down on the sofa opposite her face washed with pain. She took a quick look at my wife and I then looked at the floor. Giovanna and I had expected this sort of reaction though as we knew that she was shy and she was still pretty shaken up from the accident which was only a few weeks ago.
"Eden, this is Tom and Giovanna." Clair introduced us.
"Hi, I'm Giovanna but you can call me Gi." My wife smiled at the shy little girl who still was facing the floor. I could sense that Eden wanted to look up so bad but just didn't have the confidence to do so.
"And I'm Tom and you can call me... Tom." I joked. Eden started to giggle lightly and I realised my mistake.
"Hi." Eden said quietly. Her head raised a little but then fell again after a few seconds.
"How are you? How's the leg?" I asked politely. Trying to make conversation.
She then explained quietly that she was fine but her leg might not be healing correctly and that she might have to have a operation to fix it. I felt so much sympathy for this little girl. She is only ten years old and has already faced some things that no one should ever have to go through.
"So tell us about yourself Eden, what do you like and dislike?" Gi asked.
Eden then replied explaining to us that her favourite food is pasta and chicken and she dislikes mushrooms and that she loves Disney and one direction. She's going to fit in so well.
After a while of chatting about Disney and about Buzz and Buddy we left to go and pick up the kids and Eden was left at the care home after organising a home visit tomorrow. We already have the background checks sorted so it's mainly just making sure Eden feels secure with us really. One things for sure, me and Gi are ready for this adventure. I just hope that Eden feels the same.
