Chapter three

Jade's POV

     I had to stop my little sister from telling Eve about our past. It's not something I like to talk about. Especially around Eve.

     I stared her in the eyes.

     Something I didn't tell anyone was that I had a few powers... I didn't use them much. Jinx had one of them. I can read minds and send messages into them, plus a little randomness here and there that I don't know where it came from. But Jinx could send messages, too.

     Jinx, don't talk a bout that stuff around anyone remember? It's our big secret! Ya dope!

     Oh, sorry, I forgot! Jeez get off of me! I didn't commit a crime or anything!!

Just don't forget about it!!!

     She escaped my grasp and went to the pizza, trying to change the subject.

Time skip

     We all ate till we felt like exploding. Eve was such an amazing cook!

I hadn't forgotten about what Jinx brought up, I just never wanted to think about it. It scares me. I still have scars... Jinx didn't have it as bad...

A hand resting on my shoulder snapped me back to reality. "You ok? I know people say I'm a good cook, but staring at your crusts for ten minutes is a little much. You seem off?" Eve said, her voice filled with concern.

I glanced at Jinx who was thumb wrestling Leo. "I'm okay... Just some old memories came up. It's really nothing." I lied. This meant a lot to me... I couldn't let Eve know...

"No you're not ok. I know you stare off into space sometimes, but not for ten minutes. You only space out when something is bothering you and you think really hard. Please tell me. I'm always here for you."

Jinx noticed I was in distress and came to my rescue. "Hey Eve! Let's go do karaoke! I'm sure you and I could do an awesome duet!" She grabbed Eve's arm told Leo to turn on the tv. She turned back at me and winked.

I got it big sis! I owed you for bringing it!

I smiled.

I could do almost anything. Except cheat. I never used my powers to cheat on anything! Even though I can do almost anything. I hated having these powers.

I practically never use them... Not ever since the... Accident...

OoOoOoOoOo ~Flash back~ OoOoOoOoOo

"J-Jade...? Get up... Please..." A sweet voice called.

I was covered in scratches and cuts, blood poured from my skin. Tears streamed down my face.

"Alright, now for the other one." A deep man's voice said.

I tired to sit up but my badly bruised and broken arm forbade it.

I opened my eyes, the man walked slowly to my younger sister, only five, with a bloody knife in his grasp.

A shriek of pure horror aroused from my sister.

"Jinx, no!" I yelled. I stood up clenching my fists painfully. I will not let him hurt my sister.

OoOoOoOoOo ~Flash back end~ OoOoOoOoOo

"Jaaaade? Yo! Earth to Jade! Wake up!"

I was snapped back into reality.

Jinx was standing in front of me, waving her hands in my face. Everyone was standing behind her looking deeply worried.

"Jade! Are you ok? You're just sitting there staring at nothing and crying!" Jinx said.

I wiped my face, it was wet. I had been crying, and didn't even realize it.

"I-I'm okay..." I said, lying.

Jinx, the flashbacks keep happening... What if everyone finds out about our powers?!

Jade calm down. No one's gonna kill you just because you have special powers. It's not like you're immortal.

But if Eve finds out about our past and-

Jade snap out of it! You're hysterical!

"Hello? What is it now Jinx? I've never heard you be silent for this long before!" Leo said.

"Huh? Oh I was just thinking." She said, very convincingly. "I think Jade's okay, she's just thinking really hard about stuff. Why don't we do some Karaoke again? Jade how about you start?"

     Damn you Jinx!

     Oh come on you love me!

     I left our mental conversation alone and entered Eve's thoughts. I hated reading minds but I was curious and couldn't help myself.

     I really hope Jade is ok... I wonder why she's not talking to anyone... And why is Jinx bailing her out? They barely even talk!

     Leo handed me a microphone. "What song do ya wanna sing?"

     "Oh I don't sing." I said pushing it away.

     "You do now!" Jinx said and she picked me up.

     "Hey! Jinx! Put me down! Agh!" I was terrified of heights... Jinx was lifting me really high.

     She threw me into the couch

Small flash back

I was thrown across the floor, the hard cold ground scraping my chin, belly, and knees. Pain dwelled on the palms of my hands, as did sweat.

Flashback end

     I sat up abruptly. "F-fine what song?"
