Chapter ten

Jade's POV

Eve ran up and hugged me.

I pulled away and kissed her. This is what I was missing. This was all I wanted right now.

I pulled away and saw Anwar and Ansara making out in the corner.

"Don't ask." Eve laughed.

"I'll join you guys a little later, I just need to clear my head right now..." I said walking towards my bedroom. Jinx set her hand on my shoulder. Her eyes reflected the morning light.

What are we gonna do now?

That's what I was going to think about.

"I'll make you some cocoa." She said out loud. Then we can talk about it in your room.

I nodded and went into the bedroom. I grabbed my pjs and changed real quick.

     Someone knocked on the door and I told them to come in. I was just lying in bed sketching.

     Jinx walked in holding a mug with steam coming off of it. She shut the door behind her and tears started falling down my face.

     She walked over to me and put an arm around my shoulders. "What are you going to do?"

     "I don't know!" I cried. I had to leave, but I couldn't bare to stay away from everyone, especially Eve. In my was was flashes of what her reactions might be. I rolled up Jinx's sleeve to look at the scars. "I can't let that happen to anyone else!" I shrieked.

     Jinx pulled her arm back and rolled the sleeve back down. "Jade, I already told you. I don't care about that. It wasn't your fault. If our father hadn't left-"

     "But it is my fault! Damn it! I wish I didn't have these stupid powers! Kid told me I was a legend! I don't want to be anything more than just a normal scythe! What if I hurt Eve!? I will never forgive myself! I hardly forgive myself for doing it to you!"

     "Shhh! You don't want anyone to hear you! The only person that knows in that room is Leo. And he doesn't even know how!" She whisper yelled at me.

     "Plus Kid and I were talking about it. He was curious about my powers." I explained.

     "I have to leave..." I continued.

     Knocking on the door again made me shut my mouth.

     "Yeah?"

     Eve slowly walked in, fresh tears spilling down her face. Jinx got up and left.

     "What do you mean you have to leave...?" Eve sputtered.

     "Eve, I love you. I just don't want to hurt you. I don't want to leave. I just couldn't live with myself if I ever hurt you. I... I..."

     Jade, go ahead and tell her.

     "I once hurt Jinx..." I started. I explained the whole deal of the burns just because of Father.

     "Jade, that was your fathers fault! It had nothing to do with you! Your soul just took over!" Eve said, squeezing my hands.

     "But I was the one who burned her... I can't ever hurt you..."

     "But you'd hurt me more of you left! Please! Please don't leave!" She sobbed.

     I hugged her. "Eve, I won't leave... I promise... I don't know what I'd do without you... But what if-"

     She kissed me. When she pulled away she said, "you keep saying 'what if'. I know you couldn't hurt me. I trust you..."
