Leo's POV

The whole squad walked into the front doors of the DWMA. It was Monday. Yay.

Jinx seemed really off lately... But I can't quite figure out why. Jade told everyone that she isn't leaving, she's fine now, she doesn't even like her father, we don't have an exam anytime soon, I have no idea what's up.

She also seemed to be rubbing her scared arm more. She only does that when she's thinking about it. I decided to ask her.

I walked up to her and set my hand on her shoulder, she jumped back into reality. "Jinx are you ok?"

She looked at me blankly, worry filled her eyes. "Yeah, I'm fine."

I picked her up and hugged her. When I set her down I looked straight into her eyes. "No you're not. Tell me what's up."

"Really, it's nothing. Don't worry about it. My scars are just really sensitive lately..." She lied.

Her scars were always sensitive. "You only rub your arm when you're thinking about them. Please tell me."

She sighed and looked around. "You just don't know the whole story..."

"What story? You told me it was an iron falling on you when you were little. You said your mother was ironing and you bumped the table it was on."

Tears formed in the corners of her eyes. "I'm so sorry... I didn't want to lie to you... I just had to..."

What? Why would she lie to me..? "Jinx please tell me the truth..." I begged.

The bell rang and we had to go to class. She ran off, trying to escape my prying eyes.

Cinnamon's POV

I was on Adam's back as we walked into class. Today was the day we practiced soul resonance. I was a little concerned for Jade though... She did go through a lot the other day.

I jumped down and landed on my seat as our teacher, Shina, started talking. "Alright, today we will be going to the field to practice soul resonance. Jade Akerman and Eve Nightgale? Lord Death would like to see you."

Jade and Eve exchanged worried glances and walked out. Adam picked me up again as we walked to the field.

Jade's POV

We walked down the hallway, dreading what Lord Death would want.

When we entered the large room he turned to us.

"Greetings Jade and Eve! How are you guys?" He asked in a friendly tone. Kid was sitting in a large chair to the side.

     "I'm ok I guess." I said.

"You're probably wondering why I called you two in here. Kid and June told me about what happened the other night. I understand the powers of your soul Jade. But I've only heard so much about your powers. June only told me what she knows." Lord death said to me.

"Well it's complicated." I proceeded to explain to him about my father and the incident years ago.

"I never knew you had such a troubled past, Jade. I'm truly sorry. How are you feeling now?"

"I'm ok now, just a little... Off... I never told anyone because I didn't want to scare or hurt anyone... But now all of my friends know... I couldn't live with myself if I hurt one of them like I hurt Jinx. I know she forgives me but I just can't even forgive myself! The scars are so bad..." I said.

I glanced at Eve. She was looking at me in shock... Oh yeah... She had never heard about Jinx.

I hugged her so tightly that it knocked the breath out of her. "Please don't hate me..."

She put her hands on my shoulders and pushed me away, staring into my eyes. "Jade, I could never hate you." She said hugging me again.

We turned and looked at Lord Death again, embarrassed of hugging in front of him.

"Jade, we may have a slight problem..." He said.

     I looked at him terrified.

"I'm not sure if you and Eve will be able to resonate."

My heart dropped and then everything went black.
