Soul Resonance

Chapter twelve

Eve's POV

Jade fell to the ground. She was slightly unconscious.

"Jade!" I said. "Why wouldn't we be able to!? We just need more practice!"

Lord death looked at me. "I never said that you would never be able to resonate. I just said you might not be able to. Her soul is very powerful. Eve, I believe that you can get to that point where your souls will merge. Return to class and practice away from other students. Just keep in mind the responsibility both of you have."

I nodded my head. "Thanks you sir."

"Wait, Lord Death, what about Jinx and I? What should we do about our ability to resonate?" Jade asked.

"I'm not sure. I would only use that ability scarcely."

Time skip

Jade and I walked out to the field to practice. Adam and Cinnamon were resonated, they walked over to us.

"Hey guys. What did Lord Death want?" Adam asked.

"Oh it was just about the other night."

"Ah. Let's see it." He said.

I nodded to Jade.

She walked back then stopped once she was about 100 feet away. She ran at full speed, I held out my hand. She grabbed it and pulled me into her embrace. I gave her a leg up into the air as she did a flip then turned into a scythe. I jumped up and caught her, a blinding light blue light shot from us.

It worked.

She was bigger, but looked usual. A blue fire blazed from her.

Adam and Cinnamon un-resonated. They stared in awe, as did the rest of the class.

I felt my face get hot, I never really liked being the center of attention.

Today is turning out better than I expected.

Leo's POV

I still can't get it out of my head that somethings wrong with Jinx.

She was sitting on the couch rubbing her arm again. She said that there was a story behind her scars, but I wouldn't push her to answer just yet.

The doorbell rang. I went to answer it, Jinx looked at me confused. No one rang our doorbell. The only people that visited us just usually barged in. But Jade always climbed through the window... I guess it's like her thing. I opened the door and no one was there. I looked down and saw an envelope.

"What's that? Since when do we get mail?" Jinx asked.

I picked it up and examined it. There was a wax seal, a picture of a raven pressed into it. I carefully opened it and pulled out a piece of paper that was yellowing with what looked like age.

Greetings Jinx and Leo.

I have invited you to a formal party in my mansion on top of Barnerbee Hill.
You won't be the only attendees to this party.
There will be food served, a delightful three course meal, and activities.
I welcome you to my humble abode on the seventh of June at six o' clock sharp.
No rsvp necessary.

I set down the letter and told Jinx what was on it. "Let's call the squad over, maybe one of them sent it?" Jinx said. I nodded my head and grabbed my phone from my back pocket.

"Hey Jade, I need the squad over here now." I said then hung up.

After about a few minutes Eve, Steve, Katria, Anwar, Ansara, Adam, and Cinnamon were here in our living room. "Where's Jade?" Cinnamon asked, then we heard tapping on the window. As usual she was late and was coming through my window.

      "Alright I'm here, you can stop celebrating now." She said and jumped onto the couch next to Jinx.

     "Ok guys, did any of you guys get a weird invitation to the Barnerbee Hill mansion?" I asked. Jade, Katria, Adam, and Ansara all held the same, yellowing paper up. "Do any of you know who it could be?"

     "Maybe it's just Kirito, she said she didn't get one when I asked her. I think we should go. It sounds like Clue! Legit my fav game and movie!" Jinx jumped up and down like a five year old that just got given a lollipop.

     "Alright then, all in favor of going raise your right hand and say 'aye'" I said raising my right hand.

     Everyone raised their right hands and said 'aye'.

     "That settles it then. The action is moved forward to proceed." I said in a deep tone with a fake serious face. Jinx snickered and covered her mouth with her hand to keep herself from laughing.
