Chapter Four
Vada's POV
I knew my plan would work. I can't believe Cynthia didn't have complete faith in me. I've been plotting a way out since I the trial nine months ago. The trial where I could feel Katniss and Peeta's eyes staring at me and making everyone else stare at me too. Those wrongful judging eyes. Soon they'll all see who they should really be judging. I will make the whole country turn on their precious Mellarks.
The mountains surround us. The prison was hidden up in the mountains; they served as a "security" measure. The whole point of building the prison in the mountains was if an inmate were to escape, they would be slowed down by the mountains and the guards would be able to catch the escapees. Ha! Little did they actually think this all through. It took them six months before they caught me, and where did I spend that six months? In the mountains. These very same mountains I'm in now. I can easily get out of these mountains. These are the mountains I grew up around. I know exactly how to get out.
"What's the plan now?" Cynthia asks, as we run along.
"Oh," I muse. "I have a few things planned."
"Like what?" she asks, easily keeping stride with me. She continues when I don't answer. "Just so that we can devise a final plan," she says quietly and unsure.
"We'll discuss it more when we get further away. Let's just focus on getting the hell out of here, right now. I don't want to get caught, and if we spend too much talking now we'll slow down. We got to get moving, get as far as we can."
"What direction are we even headed? Do you know?"
"Of course, I know. We're heading towards the Capitol. We'll discuss the plan further there once we're in hiding."
~FIRO~
"They'll probably start searching farther out now. They won't expect us to stay this close to the prison," I say. We're on the outscapes of the Capitol. My home is so close. I haven't been back here for over a year. Ah, how I miss this place. The lights shine brightly, even at this late hour. It's beautiful, mesmerizing in fact.
"Do you think we'll be safe in the Capitol? That no one will turn us in?" Cynthia asks.
"No will turn us in. I know somewhere we'll be safe. I've been a lot busier than you've know." She gives me a confused look, her head cocking to the side. "We're able to send letters while in there. I sent some to some people that I knew I could trust. People I knew who would join my side."
"How did you get the letters through without the guards becoming suspicious?"
"Simple. I used codes. Anagrams, capitalizing the first letter of random words, excertra. I changed it up so the guards wouldn't get suspicious. They replied back in the same fashion."
She stays quiet, contemplating what I've just said. "I have a follow-up question. How did you know they would figure it out? How did you know they wouldn't just think you were just not using proper grammar?"
I smile. "If they couldn't figure out what I was doing, they didn't deserve to know. There were a few that didn't know what I was doing. It helped me weed out the ones I knew could be of some help. If they couldn't figure it out they wouldn't be any help to us with the next step of the plan."
"What's the next step?" Cynthia asks, stepping closer.
"All in good time, all in good time," I smile. This plan is going to be perfect.
I head towards the city; I head towards my one true home. I know my friends will be waiting for me, just like I wrote for them to do in my letters. They'll be ready to face my plan. They'll face my plan much better than Cynthia; she'll probably question my plan and say it's risky. What does she know? Nothing. She's a follower, not a leader. She'll never be a leader; she'll always be a follower and nothing more. Look at her now, she might question me, but she's too scared to ever cross me. She's afraid of what I'll do; she knows I have connections yet. The name Snow might be a disgrace now, but there are people that are still loyal to the Snow name. Someone in the Snow family helped them and now they are in debt to the family. I will bring the Snow name back to its glory, I just know I will.
As we near the city the trees thin and more light washes over us. I can feel my nerves buzzing with excitement, almost there. The buildings rise up taller and taller in front of us and more of them become visible behind the initial buildings. Ah, how I missed this place? I never realized how much I love this place; I never knew what I was missing until it was taken away from me. I haven't seen this place for over a year, and yet it still seems the same, familiar, like nothing has changed. The Capitol is like a shining light in the darkness that is my life. The Capitol will help me raise to greatness once more. If I'm to bring the glory back to the name of Snow, I need to start in the Capitol where it all began.
"Vada!" a soft voice exclaims. I stop recognizing that voice. Althea Pyrmont.
"Althea, you got my message," I say walking towards the voice. "did you bring anyone with you?"
"I brought Cordo with me. The others are waiting at the house," she says emerging from behind the tree she was hiding behind. Cordo follows silently behind her.
"Good. How far until we reach the house?" I ask.
"Not long. We got one right towards the outskirts of the city, just like you asked," Cordo says, his deep voice breaking the quiet of the night.
"Perfect. I should introduce you two. This," I say, motioning to Cynthia who is standing behind me shyly, typical, "is Cynthia."
"Nice to meet you Cynthia," Althea says. Cordo just nods his head in acknowledgement. "We should be headed towards the house now, before daylight breaks.
"Right," I say. "Lead the way."
"Certainly," Cordo says, pushing forward.
The house doesn't take long to get to, twenty minutes tops. It's nice to finally be somewhere I can sleep peacefully, that prison didn't let you sleep very peacefully.
Before we enter the house Althea turns to me, "Everyone who's loyal to the cause is here."
"Perfect, then I know who is with me or not," I say grinning. "Let me so I can see who we all have."
She steps to the side and lets me be the first person to walk through the door. As soon as everyone sees me they snap to attention like soldiers, and essentially they are soldiers. I take a quick inventory of who else is on my side: Balthar Galloway, Jago Dunbryll, Titus Rosehearty, Dixie Lockhearst, Septima Renfrewshire, Blye Arausio, and Leonis Saltcoats. Not everyone I sent letters to, but it's enough people for my plan.
"I'm going to go to sleep right now. I've had a long night. We'll meet when I wake up to discuss the plan."
So I've already chosen who are playing two of the new characters introduced in this chapter (look at the cast list). I had to choose Jensen Ackles somewhere to play a character in this book because I love him. I still need people to play the following. Males -- Balthar, Jago, Titus, and Leonis. Females -- Dixie, Septima, and Blye. It doesn't really matter for hair color and eye color because hair color can be changed with dye or a wig and eye color can be changed with colored contacts. Also, I haven't really thought about what each character looks like because it keeps changing every time I imagine it. Leave suggestions in the comments and make sure you tell me who exactly your suggestion is for.
Anyways, I'm posting this late because I took the ACT with the writing test this morning and I was tired and wanted to take a nap. So I did. I just woke up not that long ago. I'm now watching Monsters Inc. with Vin while I work on the next chapter of FIRO. You can also still email me any banners if you want, if you can't remember my email just PM me.
Until next week, try to keep the fire under control. ~ Alexis
