chapter 16

Newt and Alby soon made the decision to banish Ben into the maze, We all just stood at the doors after they closed leaving Ben to fend for himself. After a few seconds we all departed and went different ways, not saying a word. I didn't even speak to Newt. First i come up and George gets stung, and then Thomas comes and Ben gets stung as well. Maybe this was our fault.

"It's not your fault" Newt said

"How can it not be?" I asked

"Because i just know, you would never do anything like this"

"Newt--"

"You heard her, Newt, i told you this was her fault."

"Gally just shut up" i heard Thomas say

"Alright now just hold on, look we don't know what's going on,but let's not jump to any conclusions. Newt take Ann somewhere and calm her down. Gally stop trying to take over, i'm still first in command"

"Whatever" Gally said shoving his way through the crowd of boys

Newt took me away from everyone.

"Ann this is not your doing, stop crying"

"Newt you don't understand, i put you here. You didn't want me too, but i had to. I had to save my family."

"Ann i don't care what you did. I love you" he said holding my hand. I cried even more not looking at him, why did i have to have that dream? Why couldn't i just have forgotten that part? This was all our fault, me, Thomas and Teresa.

The next morning i woke up and Newt was gone, i walk out and see him seeing off Minho and Alby. I just stood there watching as he walk back. It was killing me that i did this to him. I technically drove him to it. I saw him walking closer and he smiled

"Will they be okay?"

"Yeah,just retracing Bens' steps"

"But if they're going back to where he was, how do we know one of them won't get stung?"

"They'll be fine Ann." i sigh and go back in and get ready for the day.

It was almost time for the doors to close,

"How come they aren't back yet?" I asked Newt

"They'll make it" he said

"But what if they don't?" Thomas asked walking up to him, Newt just looked at him with straight face

"They'll make it" he just said. Thomas walked away not satisfied with his answer.

We were all just standing in front of the maze and starring in. I next to Newt and Thomas on the other side, Gally kneeling down and just everyone else around us.

"Come on can't we just send someone after them?" Thomas asked

"It's against the rules. Either they make it back or they don't" Gally replied

"Can't risk losing anyone" Newt side with his arms crossed and slightly looking down and at Thomas before looking back to the doors. Then another gust of wind came from the maze, i didn't look away, wantng to see Minho and Alby come around the corner before the door closed. Then they started closing

"Oh no" i heard Chuck say

"Newt" i whispered looking at him scared

"There" Thomas said pointing, Minho and Alby were coming around the corner

"Wait no something's wrong" Newt said. Minho was carrying Alby on his back.

"They're not going to make it" i said

"Come on Minho" Chuck yelled which cause everyone else to do the same. The doors were getting closer together. I looked at Thomas, who was shifting slightly. Before i could stop he took off into the maze.

"Thomas no!" I shouted. And then they closed
