~"What if I can't play tonight? I'll let my girls down, I'll embarrass myself in front of Hunter because I know I'll cry."~
"Hey, are you okay? Don't start crying beautiful" Hunter said stopping to look at me.
"I'm fine, just nervous" I gave a weak smile.
He didn't seem convinced but he let it slide so I was grateful.
"Okay, let's get it over with" I said with a sigh.
"How about I go tell your coach what happened and I'll see if he lets you play" Hunter said.
He seemed to be acting a little funny but I brushed it off.
"Um, I guess you can do that. You don't have to though" I said a little confused.
"It's no problem, it'll be easier for me to go over there than for you to try to walk over there"
"Okay, well make sure you tell him I really want to play, I don't want to miss this game it's really important"
With a nod of his head Hunter went up to my coach and started talking to him. I watched as coaches expression changed, he looked me in the eyes before looking down at my bandaged knee and back at Hunter. My coach then replied to Hunter and turned away.
"What'd he say? Can I play?" I asked hopefully as Hunter approached.
Hunter looked back at where he was standing then back at me, he didn't look happy.
"I'm sorry Jill...I tried telling him you really want to play but he said with an injured knee you wouldn't be able to move as quickly as you need to" he said looking down.
I felt my eyes fill with tears.
"Wh...what am I supposed to do while they're playing?" I whispered.
"Well, I could ask my mom if you could hang out with the guys and I while your teams gone" Hunter said quietly.
I looked down defeated, there was no point in trying to beg coach, he never changes his mind.
