Chapter 9

Jill's POV

I can't believe I'm doing this. This is a stupid idea, I should just turn back around and tell them I don't want to do this anymore.

"Why am I doing this again" I ask turning to Cammy while biting my nails.

"This is what you said you wanted to do"

"I think I'm going to be sick" I groaned leaning into Hunter who had his arm around me.

"We don't have to do this babe" Hunter whispered.

"No, we've come to far to turn back now"

I shakily took a breath and stepped out the airport doors onto the sidewalk. The sense of familiarity both frightened and calmed me as I grabbed Hunter's hand.

"It feels like I haven't been here in forever" I said looking around.

"Well, it has been almost two years" Alyssa pointed out.

After a few minutes a car pulled up beside us and stopped.

"Uh...Jill, why's that car stopped?" Hunter asked sounding nervous.

"Oh come on city boy, we don't have fancy ubers like you do, this is what our ubers look like" I laughed heading towards the car.

"Are you Mrs. Rowland?" The driver asked.

I felt my cheeks flame red as the girls giggled behind me.

"I uh...yeah?" I said making it sound more like a question.

As we all climbed in the car I could see the girls still laughing at my embarrassment.

"So, Mrs. Rowland when were you going to ask us to be bridesmaids?" Melody laughed.

"Shut up!" I groaned trying to hide my face.

"It's okay babe, I just wish you'd told me about our wedding" Hunter teased.

"I hate all of you" I grumbled, my cheeks turning red again.

"It's because your mom had to set up the transportation so of course she used her last name"

"We know, we just like to tease you" Alyssa said.

"I've noticed" I said leaning my head against the window.

This is it, I can't go back. I can't run away, I just have to pray she never sees me, tough luck in a small town, but I can still hope. After a while I saw the sign leading into town in the distance. I felt my muscles tense up as I stared at it getting closer, I could tell everyone was watching me, making sure this was what I wanted.

"W...why didn't the goons and Brandon come again?" I asked trying to change the subject.

"The goons wanted to spend the weekend with their family and broadcast for their goonies and Brandon wanted to stay with Christine" Weston explained.

"Oh" I said quietly, turning my attention back to the window, unsure of what to say.

Soon we entered town and turned down the street my dad lived on. All to soon the car stopped in front of my old house. As everyone piled out of the car I stood on the sidewalk, frozen. I didn't move, I didn't want to.

"I can't do this" I said suddenly.

"What am I doing, I can't do this! I shouldn't be here, my mother will be very upset! I can't see him!" I cried spinning around trying to get away from the house.

Unlucky for me Hunter caught my wrist and pulled me towards him. My knees couldn't support my weight any longer as they went weak and Hunter lowered me to the ground.

"Jill....Jill look at me, you're going to be okay, I'm right here, the girls are here, Blake and Weston are here, we'd never let anything happen to you" Hunter whispered holding me close to him.

"Bean it'll be okay, I know you miss him, go see him, he'll be thrilled" Cammy said kneeling beside us.

"I...okay" I sighed trying to pull myself together.

As I got to my feet I looked towards the driveway, his old truck was there, he's definitely home.

"I can do this" I whispered to myself.

I walked up to the door and raised my hand to knock before quickly lowering it again.

"Hunter...can you knock for me?" I asked shyly.

"I don't like knocking on doors, it makes me nervous and I-"

"It's okay, I'll do it" Hunter cut me off.

He walked to the door and swiftly knocked before taking a small step back.
A man opened the door and my eyes widened as I realized what I was actually doing. I couldn't believe he was in front of me, he was skinnier than I remembered and his hair wasn't as dark, but he was the same nonetheless.

"Uh can I hel....Jilly? Is that you?" My dad said as his confused green eyes moved from Hunter to me.

"Hi dad" I smiled.

And that was all it took for my dad to rush out the door onto the porch and pick me up for a hug.
