"So, let me get this straight, you are pretending to be Alice in front of a guy who likes Alice and whom you like?" Naomi asked as we sat down at our usual places.
"Except the last part, its pretty much what you said," I said, nibbling on a carrot.
It was lunchtime and we were sitting at the canteen. I hated the food here so I normally ate carrots. I just loved carrots.
Tomorrow was Saturday. The day of our hangout. I was hell tensed. It had been more than a week I had met him and we occasionally dropped few messages here and there. Well, Jared did. I replied as courteously as I could. Again, I had to dress up and put layers of white smudge for that day. On the positive, more Jared. I should feel depressed, but there was a certain part of me that was dying to meet him again.
We were playing a game, I knew. I knew his intentions weren't limited to friendship and neither was I making any efforts to stop his persuasion. I knew I was secretly enjoying all the attention too. It was weird to see someone as good looking as him give me attention instead of my sister.
Then again, I was a mirage of hers in front of him.
"Yeah, right," She rolled her eyes, "Its so evident you have the hots for him."
"Excuse me, but I do not have the hots for him," I snorted.
"Of course you do. You are blushing. You like him. And you find him hot," She smirked.
"Naomi, I find many celebrities hot. Does that mean I have the hots for them in that sense?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Point, but you like that guy," She said, waving a finger at me.
"Oh god. Hopeless," I sighed.
"-ly in love with him," She snickered, "Anyway, why would Alice let go of a guy like him? She loves them, right? Good looking and popular?" Naomi scrunched her eyebrows.
"He is too good and simple for her. Despite being so rich he is really humble and kind, at least that's what I gathered from our first meeting," I smiled.
"Wow. Girl's ideal man, when are you planning to tell the guy about the truth?" She said eagerly.
"Actually, never. Tomorrow I am going to tell him I am not meeting him again," I said firmly.
"Really? If that's the case, you would have told him that day at the café itself. Why don't you admit that you are whipped already?" She grinned.
"I just met him once. He is hot. He is from the enemy school. He likes my sister and thinks I am her. No connection can happen," I said stubbornly.
"So what Alli? Hot and rich. Grab him," She said dreamily.
"Wouldn't want Max to hear that, would you?" I teased.
"Who cares? He doesn't even look at me. Its just me and my crush," She shrugged.
《》《》
"You are early," I said, securing the phone between my shoulder and ear.
"Couldn't wait any longer," Jared chuckled, "It's been awhile since we met. Last week, it was strenous and we can't hang out much on weekdays so I am looking forward to today."
Currently, he was outside my house. He had called me while I was dressing up and we were arguing.
"Okay, you are taking a lot of time to get ready. I am coming in," He said impatiently.
"What? No!" I shouted.
If he came across Alice or mom, we are dead meat. All those elaborate dress-up and lies would go down the drain. Alice will kill me after that.
