Chapter Nine: Family?

Alexis POV

I was in my room looking at maps of the town trying to figure out where campsites of rogues can be. I groaned and punched the desk, I sat down on the chair and threw my hands in the air.

"Nothing! There is no trace to them!" I yelled in frustration, Amanda walked in and came over to me and patted my leg. I lifted her up and she looked at the map, studying it. Then she points up by the border of Canada.

"Here. There is a medium sized camp there, it's not there main camp but it's a lead." She said honestly. I looked at her and smiled.

"You are amazing! Thank you so much Amanda. Don't worry, we will get pay back for what they done. For you." I said kissing the top of her head.

"Is Thomas your boyfriend?" I laughed and shook my head.

"No, Thomas is my best friend, actually he is more my brother than anything really." She nodded and lean into me.

"Alexis?"

"Yeah?"

"Are you going to keep me or are you going to give me away." She said looking straight into me.

"It's up to you sweetheart, you can stay with us and we can register you for school, or I can call up our boss and he can send out hunters to find survivors of your pack that would like to take you. We can search for any family of yours. Just tell us what you want." I said truthfully. I've grown attached to her already, she already had me wrapped around her pinkie. I would hate for her to leave but it's her decision.

"I want to stay with you and Thomas. I don't have any other family and I doubt there is any survivors. My wolf agrees with me, she knows you'll protect us." I smiled and kissed the top of her head.

"Are you sure?" She nodded. I grabbed her arm that was wrapped, I bended it looking at her, "Does this hurt?" She shook her head no and I unwrapped it and checked it.

"I'm really sorry for rebreaking your arm. I really didn't want to."

"It's alright, I'm glad you did. It had to be done and I sure didn't want to do it myself." She said before yawning. I laughed and picked her up and held her on my hip. I grabbed some pajamas and helped change her. She patted the spot beside her.

"Please sleep with me? I'm scared being alone at night." I nodded and changed into a t-shirt and pants and laid down beside her. She cuddled into me, I smiled and kissed the top of her head, humming a soft tune. She soon drifted to sleep a few minutes after her I also fell asleep.
___________2 weeks later ____________

I woke up around 7 in the morning and changed into jeans with holes in them, a black tank top with a leather jacket and of course my combat boots and threw in my weapons in each boot. I brushed my hair and left it down. I left the door open just in case Amanda woke up and walked into the kitchen. I poured myself some Lucky Charms and I slowly ate it. Once I finished my cereal, I put it into the sink and ran upstairs to Thomas's room. Thomas was leaning against the window reading a book.

"Hey, I'm going to go and register Amanda at the elementary school. Please watch her."

"Why don't you take her with you?"

"Should I?" I asked, he nodded. I groaned and walked back down the stairs into my room. I see Amanda was already awake and dressed in a pretty white dress with flowers. She was trying to braid her but she was struggling.

"Can you do my hair Alexis?" She pleaded giving up. I laughed softly and braided her hair then I grabbed a ponytail with a white flower on it and tied it.

"All done! Do you want to come with me? I was thinking of registering you for school." She smiled and nodded. "First let's get you some breakfast."

We headed to the kitchen and picked her up and set her on a stool. "Lucky Charms or Cinnamon Toast Crunch?"

"Cinnamon Toast Crunch please." I poured some into a bowl with some milk and put it a small spoon and gave it to her. "I want to be sure, are you 8 or 7?"

"I just turned 8 on September 8th" she said eating. While she ate her food, I put away all the food and started the dishes. Once Amanda finished her cereal, she put on some white flats and grabbed my hand. I grabbed my keys, wallet, and phone and headed out the door to the elementary school.

I parked the car and got out, Amanda came out of the back seat and held my hand. I can tell she was nervous. I lightly squeezed her hand and walked into the building. I went into the office with her and was greeted by the principal.

"Hello miss, I am the Principle Leslie. How can I help you?" She said smiling at us. Amanda hid behind my legs, and Leslie frowned a little.

"I'm sorry, she's shy. I wanted to register Amanda for school." I said still holding Amanda's hand.

"Oh yes, come with me. How old is Amanda?" She said leading us to her office.

"She just turned eight, so she should be going to 2nd grade."

"Ah yes, just signed this and you are her mother right?" I bit my lip then looked at Amanda she looked scared, I looked back at Leslie and said, "Yes I am." I sighed the papers.

"Do you have any school supplies for her?" Leslie said.

"No I don't, we just recently moved here and we haven't had time to go shopping."

"Don't worry, we have extra stuff for things like this. School ends at 3:25 pm. Will you be picking her up?" I nodded and picked up Amanda up and set her on my hip. She hid her face in my neck. I smiled and held set my hand on her back.

"Well that is about it, school starts in about ten minutes. Here is her schedule. You can go show her to her class or I can."

"Thank you a lot, and I have time to show her to her class, plus I want to talk to her." She smiled and nodded giving me a purple backpack filled with school supplies. Amanda lifted her head softly smiled at Leslie and we headed to the second grade classroom, the teachers' name was Mrs. London. I found the classroom and I knocked on the door. A cheery lady showed up.

"You must be Mrs. London."

"Indeed I am! How can I help you?"

"Well I just registered my daughter Amanda for school and you are her teacher."

"Ah yes, I am. Why hello Amanda!" Amanda looked at me, I gestured to Mrs. London. Amanda did a small wave.

"She's really shy. I'm sorry about that."

"It's fine, she'll be in good hands. Don't worry."

"Thank you so much, I'm Alexis." I'll be honest she reminds me of Marcel. Marcel.. I need to talk to him.

"Nice to meet you Alexis, class is about to start, the other kids are outside for recess so you can talk to her before they come in." I nodded and brought Alexis to the coat room, I hung her backpack in an open cubby and set Amanda down. She point here finger down signaling me to go down her height and she quietly whispered, "She's a Werewolf, a Luna to be exact." I looked at her then looked at the Mrs. London then nodded at Amanda mouthing thank you. I kissed her on the forehead.

"I'll pick you up after school okay?" She nodded and I hugged her, I quietly whispered in her ear, "A rogue camp is kinda close here so I'm going to call a friend to post guards here." She nodded.

"Bye Amanda, I'll see you after school. I love you." I said getting up.

"I love you too, Alexis." She said. I left nodded at Mrs. London and left the classroom and then called Carson.

"Hey, I need a huge favor."
