Flashing Winds in the Dazzling Colors of Spring
The sound of chirping birds woke Lu Cang up from his peaceful sleep. With much difficulty he opened his eyes. The whole room had been showered in the sprinkle of morning light.
Pleasantly surprised to have a very fine morning, Lu Cang pushed open the window to let the knocking fresh air entering the room and had the last night stuffy air left to melt with the dew.
The fresh and cool air brushed pass his face. He closed his eyes to bask in the warmth of the sunlight and to enjoy the calming gentle breeze playing on his shoulder length hair.
This kind of morning was a rare for him. He almost couldn't wake up properly most of the time. Either he was too exhausted to get up or he would wake up really late in the day.
Soft knock on the door followed by the calling of his personal attendant.
"Enter."
Xiao Sang was rather surprised to see his Master to be up this early. All fresh nonetheless. Also in a very good mood. His usual tired face in the morning was nowhere to be seen.
"Big Brother, last night Third Brother came."
"Eh?! Why nobody told me last night?" A frown formed from the knitted brows. Obviously, he was not happy to know that nobody informed him about Cao Xin's visitation.
"His Majesty was here and we dared not to disturb."
That reminded Lu Cang. Last night he had another fight with Jing. He had been constantly confronting Jing ever since Jing suggested his brothers to be officials in Hangzhou instead of staying aimlessly in the Capital.
How dare that evil demon said that his brothers were a bunch of useless free loaders who only knew how to play. --- Actually Jing didn't actually say that, it was Lu Cang's own conclusion from Jing's saying 'staying aimlessly' which was rather true. It was impossible for them to fill their previous post since they had committed such great crime by openly beating an official, ---and his family. Thus, they spent the days by visiting each and every famous places in the Capital, naturally, Lu Cang as their Big Brother would be dragged along, much to the Emperor's dismay.
Therefore, on one rare occasion when they bumped into each other in Lu Cang's residence, Jing subtly offered them a mouth-watering position in their hometown, Hangzhou. To be the Military Governor of Hangzhou. They would be granted a huge mansion so they all could stay together. And of course, a pretty salary as a high rank official.
Knowing Jing, of course Lu Cang understood the meaning behind his seemingly perfect win-win solution, --- he wanted to keep his brothers as far away as possible from him. He seemingly totally annoyed every time Lu Cang spent his time with his brothers instead of with Jing.
Objecting vehemently for Jing's suggestion, Lu Cang threatened him to go with his Brothers if his brothers left the capital.
He would not be called the evil demon Jing if he could be threatened easily. Despite Lu Cang's strong refusal, he still could calmly persuade the brothers while ignoring Lu Cang's loud bark.
Unexpectedly, his brothers agreed and excitedly talked about it. They were eager to go back to their hometown as a high rank official. They already could imagine the envy and admiration from the people who knew them. Furthermore, they had been living in Hangzhou for all their live. They would fit more in there than in the Capital.
Cao Xin and Liu Cuo often came to talk to him, about the reason they took up the Emperor's offer.
In the end, Lu Cang still had to respect their wish and let them choose what they think more suitable for them. Though he was torn apart, between stayed in the Capital or returned to Hangzhou together with the brothers.
